Neighbourhood: Malá Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

Walked through the gardens on the end of the tour of the Palace complex
The Wallenstein Gardens are a nice place of quiet and beauty after the end of a long tour through the Prague Palace complex. The beautifully landscaped gardens are full of fountains and statuary that is fun to admire while you are relaxing amongst the paths of flowers and bushes. It is a nice place to just sit and admire its beauty.

    Peaceful
Despite the fact that the garden was relatively busy, I enjoyed a very peaceful visit here. The gardens are very well kept, I found them to be very calming. There are plenty of places to sit here to soak it up. And the entrance is free which is a bonus

    So beautiful and peaceful
These gardens are so beautiful and peaceful. It is almost like going to a botanical garden and a zoo. We saw many different plants, along with peacocks and owls. We saw the white peacock but not up close. This is a must see if in Prague.

Cool Gardens with a Strange Wall
Wallenstein Palace was built in 1630 for Albrecht von Wallenstein, who was the Duke of Mecklenburg and Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Forces during the Thirty Years’ War. Wallenstein only lived in it for one year before he was assassinated. It remained in the Wallenstein Family until 1945. After World War II, it housed various government offices. It’s now the home of the National Senate

Closed? Wanted to visit here but it seemed closed. The website said open but we went twice with no luck.

Beautiful and peaceful place in the middle of Prague. Very easy to walk past and not know what is in there. So stick your head in and go for a walk.

Our tour guide, after a longer morning touring around the Prague Castle, took us off to the side to the Wallenstein Palace Gardens so that we could sit, relax and enjoy the surroundings. It was the perfect place to rechange our batteries…and based upon the number of locals enjoying their lunches there, obviously an exceptionally popular spot with the locals. The gardens were beautiful with wonderful water features and carved walls (to look like random carvings, but actually contain hidden images). And the gardens were exceptionally well maintained.

My favorite part of Wallenstein Palace Gardens is the Grotto Wall and the adjacent eagle owl aviary. I had been there before but wanted my wife to experience it as well. Unfortunately, it started to rain so this was all we were able to see. Our main purpose was achieved but it would have been nice to spend more time there.
