Nothing special to be frank comparing to St. Vitus Cathedral
1. The architecture style of both of the buildings are different. One is Romanesque style and has a long history. St Vitus Cathedral is built in Gothic Style and has a shorter history.
2. Apart from both of these differences, there is nothing magnificent I can find from the church.
3. It is being renovated so it is not looking good from the outside too.

This is a small but interesting church. Much less ornate than most other churches in the area. The frescos on the ceiling of the alter at the front of the church are amazing. Here you will also find the tomb of St. Ludmila of Bohemia who was the grandmother of St. Wenceslas. Entry requires a ticket that also gets you in to several other amazing buildings on the castle grounds. It is worth the cost of the ticket for all these facilities.

Dated in 920 this basilica is the oldest in Prague. It has an very interesting façade of a knight killing a dragon on the west side. Dont miss that. On the inside there is also an hidden sceleton below one of the saints. This is a building full of hidden treasures.

A red exterior church behind St. Vitus Cathedral. The interior is a bit small. The entrance is a single really small door. It is a much simpler structure than St. Vitus Cathedral. The interior is a bit small and quite long and narrow towards the altar. You can enter with a standard ticket for Prague Castle (which includes admission to St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Imperial Palace, the Golden Lane, and St. George's Cathedral). The stay time is about 10 to 20 minutes.

The part of the city in Prague that is referred to as Prague Castle is dominated by large palaces of royal families of the Holy Roman Empire, large stately houses of prominent bourgeois families, almost all in Baroque style and of course the beautiful, large mid-14th century St. Vitus Cathedral, in early Gothic style. Among all these beautiful buildings, modest in size, is the oldest church in this part of Prague, St. George's Basilica (yes, that George of the dragon). This Romanesque church dates from the 1st half of the 12th century and is therefore about 200 years older than its large neighbor, the Vitus Cathedral. The Basilica of George ("Bazilika Sv. Jiří") was built at the time on the site of an even older church, dating from 920, probably also dedicated to St. George. St. George's Basilica was part of the adjacent St. George's Monastery of the Benedictine Order. Such a Romanesque church is a pleasant surprise in the city steeped in Baroque and Gothic. But unfortunately... in the 17th century it was decided to provide the church with a red-colored new facade... you guessed it... in Baroque style. Too bad! Fortunately, the Romanesque style has been preserved in the interior and at the rear of the church, with its two high towers.

Small, but peaceful. The oldest preserved church building at Prague Castle and the best preserved example of Romanesque architecture in Bohemia. Built around the year 920 by Prince Vratislav 1, rebuilt in the 12th century, it now has a Baroque façade from the 17th century. Includes the chapel of St. Ludmila, grandmother of St. Wenceslas and the first Czech Christian martyr.

St. George's Basilica is located directly behind the much more famous and much larger St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague Castle. The church was founded in the 10th century and contains the tomb of St. Ludmila, the grandmother of St. Wenceslas of Bohemia. The facade dates from the Baroque period of the late 17th century. The interior, however, is still clearly dominated by the simple Romanesque style with thick walls, small windows and characteristic round arches. As for all other sights in Prague Castle, you need a ticket to visit the basilica. As a contrast to St. Vitus Cathedral, it is definitely worth taking a look inside.

St. George's Basilica is located on the grounds of the Prague Castle and founded by Vratislaus I of Bohemia in 920.
Itis the oldest surviving church building within Prague Castle.
The architecture is of Romanesque in style.
Worth a short visit.

The Catholic Basilica of St. George is located in the heart of Prague Castle. Built in the 10th century, in the Romanesque style, it was intended to receive the royal tombs of Bohemia. Destroyed in the 12th century by fire, it is rebuilt the same year, and to this day is still a mausoleum.
Baroque in appearance from the outside (17th), inside, we find the sobriety and austerity of the pious Romanesque churches of yesteryear. Beautiful Prague religious building.

Located at Prague Castle and included in the Combo ticket that can be purchased for 250 CZK. This is one of the oldest structures at Prague Castle. Founded in 920 AD with the present structure dating back to the 12th century. The exterior facade is quite photogenic, but the interior is very simple. However, this is where Czech royalty was buried before St Vitus Cathedral was constructed including the tomb of St Wenceslas' grandmother Ludmila.

Czy galeria w klasztorze jest wliczona w bilet do zamku trasa A? Czy może trzeba osobno zapłacić?

We are thinking of a concert at the Basilica also. But my question to you is: did you need to purchase a separate admission ticket to the castle complex also?? Or was just having your concert ticket enough?
Thankyou for any tips you might have!

A circuit B ticket is quite wholesome unless you want to go to the exhibitions. Circuit B is very well priced. 250czk per person or 500czk per family. It's very with it is you are the slightest bit interested in history. Good luck!

what's the suggested duration of visit? an hour? two hours?
Written 20 February 2015
The inside of the basilica may be simple but is as historically significant as it is architecturally significant considering that it is the oldest church building in Prague. That said, it should take you about half an hour to take in the inside of the church.
