The square is lovely, lots of people wandering about, musicians, magicians and others entertaining the grounds. Food and drink sellers, all of which are excellent. But please beware of the money changers. We were approached by a man as we neared an exchange shop. We were told not to go there as they charge commission, which they do, sometimes as... More

Very touristic place, the Old Town it's one of the main touristic places that you must visit in Prague. It's the old main square and it's very close to the Astronomical Clock! Michael

Prague's Old Town Square has remained virtually untouched since the 10th century. Tourist congregate to eat al fresco while admiring a hodgepodge of architecture including the Rococo Kinsky Palace, the Gothic Tyn Cathedral and the Baroque St. Nicholas Church and the Astronomical clock to name a few. An ever changing cast of musicians, dance troupes, punks and vendors make the... More

To see the best of old town take to your feet and walk! So much to see ranging from the beautiful buildings to small coffee shops and bars. A real pleasure.

Old town was nice. A bit crowded on the top of the hour as the astronomical clock would go off, but not to bad. The clock was very interesting with the "skeleton". A must see. Lots of shops and places to eat.

We found the city busy enough for our taste in March. The city is very attuned to the tourist market; souvenirs are priced accordingly (translation: higher than same products elsewhere). Can't imagine how crowded it must be in summer.

I have always loved Prague, one of the main reasons being everyone is just so beautiful. The old town is no exception, all of the architecture is brilliant (and I am not someone who appreciated things like that all that much). The restaurants and bars however rival some of the best party breaks I have been on. We couldn't have... More

The city of Prague is absolutely amazing, you could spend days and still not be able to see all that this beautiful city has to offer. In many cities in Europe I wouldn't recommend taking children, but I would take them to Prague.

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
