Attempted to visit and trekked halfway across Prague but despite having a working card machine on the desk the surly and disinterested member of staff told us it was cash only and refused to allow us to pay by card.

Very disappointed children, she was quite happy to watch us walk away - can't imagine how much money this place must lose by not allowing customers to visit.

Disappointing, but we will visit the plenty of other attractions in Prague that are happy to accept cards.

Additionally I find this attraction particularly expensive at 1200czk for 1 adult and 2 children - to put in perspective Prague Zoo is just over 800!

If you have visited the place in Hamburg, then you will be badly disappointed here. It is much smaller, yet still beautifully and creatively made. There are dimming lights at intervals, allowing you to see everything in the dark. A nice place for children and adults who like trains and technology.

This was a reasonable way to spend 45 minutes or so, with some detailed models spanning a decent area over two floors and a day/night cycle, along with some static exhibits of cars and planes behind glass. Unfortunately it had limited interactivity, some sections were barren or unfinished and they lacked variety and depth. In comparison to Miniature Wunderland in Hamburg, which boasts more exhibits based on a variety of different locations, with great height as well as width, greater interactivity and detail, this was considerably less engaging. Nonetheless, it was still mildly entertaining.

Very nice place, great for kids. A number of smaller dioramas as well as the big one downstairs. Many lights and animations. Mini-Z race cars one can try. Actual full size buses and trams to crawl on. Bistro.

Worth a visit if you like model railways, which my husband does! My grandchildren would have liked this too. Enormous layouts, buttons to press and some teams to pretend to drive. Also I lost the scalextric race. Bit of fun on a rainy morning.

Whether you are a kid or just like modeling/railroads, this is a huge, fun, exhibit. This is a very large layout, mostly in HO scale. Many buildings, running vehicles, lighting, etc. They even simulate day and night.

This would be better with kids. It is not expensive at about $6-7 per person.

The reason for the average rating is the lack of signage, the lack of interactive capability, and a very messed up ticketing and administrative function upstairs. The staff didn't smile, were very slow, and seemed completely indifferent.

We were in the area with some time to spare, so we did a quick walk through.
We have three small kids in our family that love the Thomas trains and we visited similar attractions with them in the US in the past. Perhaps not as large and interactive displays as this.
It is mostly the sheer size of the display, that makes it worthwhile, I think.

If you have kids with you plan enough time for it, they may not want to leave.
It was just a short preview for us ....

The largest model train set I have ever seen!

Comments from my 9 year old son:

“Museum was very good apart from the fact that it didn’t have English titles. If you are going on a hop on hop off bus then you should ask the people where it is and they will probably tell you.

Downstairs there was a whole city worth of trains and planes including a duplo city with other stuff. There was a whole paper place including R2-D2. There were buttons to make most of the trains go but once again weren’t in English and not all of them worked. They had day and night times and if you stayed for long enough you would see both. There was also an airport which was in the dark the whole time.

The upstairs had two simulators which were bus and tram. the bus one was not as realistic as I thought it would be but it was really great, although there was a long line it was really worth the wait. There was also an upstairs exhibition which was the same except it was only night.

So if you are English you can go but it will be hard to read the signs. And family is great to take. “

We had not heard of this attraction at all, but noticed it on one of the Hop-On/Hop-Off bus brochures as a stop of theirs. As we have friend who is a mad model train enthusiast, we decided to have a look to pass on the information. We are glad we did. It has a number of layouts - the largest one is a small replica of Prague (sort of). Not only were the trains active, but models of trucks etc were as well. There were even firemen putting out a fire. The whole place was fascinating - especially the control room with its myriad of computers and screens where the operators control the whole thing. It was extremely inexpensive - given the complexity of the display. We obtained lots of pictures for our friend. This was a fascinating attraction and well hidden from tourist brochures.

It's a nice place with a very fine detailed world that living by itself. It's pretty funny to look at. Though I'd give it 4 stars and not 5 due to the fact, that it's not interactive at all. Kids get bored pretty fast cause there is nothing to touch or try, a couple of buttons you can push won't do it.

Thank you for your comment. Sorry for the buttons ... To be honest, I must say that what we speak about, it's just a toys - it should work 10hrs every day. From time to time some of them broke, and if a some visitor does not inform our staff, it may take a while before they see it and repair. We know, that modell layouts are not really interactive, and that is why we have a functional cocpits of real train, tram and (from last week) bus too. Children loves it ;-) If you like to see it, please check videos on our Facebook profile (Království železnic) Best regards Rudolf from Kingdom of Railways.
