What a strange place old and falling apart on the outside - a great sporting facility on the inside.
You can only imagine what it was like in its day.
There is one door open between this stadium and the newer one next door to allow you inside to view.

We went to the stadium as we heard it was one of the worlds biggest and thought we couldn’t go in. Turns out there were tours for one weekend of the whole year and we were there! We walked around the inside, and even got pitchside too! Unlikely you can go in if you visit but just wander around the outside and see how big it is.

Mainly of interest as a vestige of the Soviet empire. This massive stadium supposedly had a capacity of 250,000, making it one of the largest in the world (although there is/was actual seating for only 56,000. In its heyday, the stadium was used for synchronized gymnastics and most of the quarter million capacity were actually performers! The place is now in disrepair, but still used for some events and activities.

The stadium was built in the 20’s and was used for gymnastics displays for the patriotic Sokol organisation. It was used by the Communists and for rock concerts in the 90’s after the fall of Communism, but it is now falling into disrepair, and certain sections look as if they may need demolished over the next few decades. It is currently used as a training ground for the local team AC Sparta Prague.
It cannot be accessed via the main entrance on the eastern side, however, on the west side, around the middle of the stadium, is a terrace that can be accessed if you ask the receptionist nicely. This gives some great views of the stadium.

A great stadium for its day, but sadly it's a crumbling old relic now.
Built in the communist times its something impressive to any sports fan out there.
I took a 191 bus about 7 stops and it drops you right outside. I managed to walk all the way round it and it's like 3 stadiums in 1 now. Sparta use it as a training camp or base, then I managed to get inside the middle part, not sure I should have been there but gates were open and I just walked up the stairs. Inside were two athletes going through training.
I've visited Prague numerous times and finally I made the effort to get here and glad I did.
Very impressive and probably very special in its day.
Not sure what the two tall pillars are at 1 corner and as you walk around there's a statue of two athletes

Worth a visit to see giant sports stadium built dueing communist era for gymnastics displays. Stadium held 250,000 so truly huge. Is crumbling now but we got to see a Sparta prague team training there when we went in for a wander to look around. Worth a visit if you like football stadiums and to see something that you wouldn't see anywhere else, likely wouldn't get built today and might not be there forever .

Originally built to hold a rhythmic gymnastics event. Not really much too see and just looks a concrete wreck. When we were there a Sparta Prague junior team were playing a match. If it's what you like then maybe worth a visit.

As a football fan this is an impressive stadium to see regardless that it was built for gymnastics. Training ground of Sparta Prague it was surprisingly easy to access as we went straight through the front door on to the pitches. Not a must see in prague if you have limited time but really worth it if you do.

A massive imposing concrete structure that houses several full sized football pitches and is currently used as a training facility by Sparta Prague.
You can just walk right into the car park and take a look around the stadium (or at least I think you can, there was no signage to say not to and we weren't removed or shouted at), but you can't go up into the stands for safety reasons.
If you're up Petrin hill then it's definitely worth the five minute walk over, particularly if you have an interest in sport or stadia.

Massive stadium harking back to the Soviet Mayday parades now used by the local football team Sparta to train on. I was I awe of such a big stadium. Whilst it was a little tumble down and we just wandered in it was an experience I won’t forget.
