I grew up in Chatham and have since moved West. Our kids, born in Saskatchewan, have not been exposed to this important part of Canadian history. It was important to me that we visit the site. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and giving of their time. The interpreter presentation in the theatre was a great way to start the tour. The... More

We enjoyed the film and the buildings that you could tour on the site. Was a little disappointed that we were not allowed the time to see the display set up in the film room. We were quickly ushered out to see the other buildings. Although those were self guided. I would suggest either moving that display to another area... More

I had no idea of Ontario's connection to Uncle Tom's Cabin. Very well designed displays and exhibits. Not much is mentioned about this Museum and finding it was a pleasant surprise. There is a surprising amount of history to be learned here.

Everybody knows the Uncle Tom's story from the childhood, but not many knows about the origins of it. Here, in Dresden you will find out everything - the history of American preacher who inspired the later book's character (Uncle Tom), artifacts from everyday life, and some super interesting facts from Black History of North America. There's also bunch of copies... More

It was great to hear all the history about Josiah Henson and how he became known as "Uncle Tom". It was also great to see the church, and 2 houses on site from the era.

The trip to Uncle Toms Cabin was so full of history and learning. One of my favourite things about these kinds of attractions is that it's fun and educational. The tour was well laid out, informative, and the souvenirs were reasonably priced. Such a friendly environmental and kind people. Highly recommended.

What a great little museum! Docents are welcoming and the tour is interactive, with a lecture, a film and then you're sent on your way to explore! Awesome find.

We were in the area visiting friends and just had to see Uncle Tom's Cabin. The museum was heart wrenching and a real eye opener. I learned a lot. The staff were warm and helpful, and even though the gift shop was under construction it was almost as informative as the museum. There are many good books, even for children.... More

A small museum which focuses on the heroics of a escaped enslaved person from America who escaped to Canada and founded a community. Opened my eyes and mind to another side of the whole chapter with which we are still living the consequences. Tells a good story with video and display boards. A number of old buildings complete the museum... More

The Tecumseh Parkway, Battle of Longwoods, Uncle Tom's Cabin really worth the drive. A great daytrip if you are in Southwestern Ontario.
