I once read that this is one of the ten best hikes in the world. Agreed! Admittedly this was my 4th time up. The previous times, it terrified me so much that I either couldn’t complete it or wanted to get back down as soon...More

The trek to the plateau using the chain ladder route is both exhillarating and a little bit scary. We walked up the ravine and down the chain ladder, and our children of 12 and 14 did well - proud of them - but I was...More

I'm scarred of heights. Just look forward and keep stepping and it's fine. Very safe you just need to control your fear, no one let's go and don't get drunk. Coming down is harder but take the same tactic and repeat I am 2 rungs...More

Not for the faint hearted. Ensure that the weather is checked well in advance as the time of year for climbing can be severely dented by mist, rain and severe afternoon thunderstorms but definitely something to do on the bucket list.

The walk to the chain ladders is fairly strenuous and certain areas are a little treacherous but there are invariably ways around these sections. The climb is definitely worth it. One of South Africa's Jewels. Guides are available if help is needed.

This chain ladder was quite the challenge but so worth the effort! The scenery at the top is breathtakingly beautiful. A lot of families with small kids also used the ladder although I will not recommend it😕Overnight on the mountain is must☺

The chain ladder represents a quick way to reach the plateau. It deserves some respect but is in fact very safe and robust.

We did the hike from the Sentinel car park, up the gully and then across to Tugela falls and finally down the chain ladders. I definitely recommend this route as it is a nice loop so that you don't have to come up and down...More

This is a part of the hiking trail. You can take another route, but you do have to find it. We were advised not to take to other route, because of snow.

You will need to take your own equipment. We left the lodge around 9am and returned around 3pm after hiking to the falls.
