I'm not really sure what to make of this place, It seems that the owners are doing a lot of good for abandoned animals. In my opinion the cost was extortionate at $90 with a 25% discount! The staff couldn't have been any nicer, and...More

We chose to visit on a day after there had been quite a lot of rain. We had read about Owlcatraz on their website - perhaps I should have checked TripAdvisor first. Whilst the owner was friendly enough, we felt that we had been misinformed...More

Staff were friendly and helpful but we felt the tour group was too big, made difficult to hear, and went far too long. We didn't go to the glow worm cave and didn't even know about it until reading other reviews. We did go on...More

I had visited Owlcatraz about 10 years ago, and decided to visit again as we were passing through. The bush and grounds are really nice, but they have an odd way of showing people through in little tour groups, and it is expensive ($60 for...More

This is a fantastic place in the village of Shannon. The hosts that own and run Owlcatraz have done an outstanding job restoring the native vegetation and ecosystems and creating a haven for the native birdlife. Considering this is a small family run place, the...More

We were travelling though, cool little spot for a look at some pretty amazing birds. We only did the owl house, however this was very interesting. Very beautiful place to visit.

Firstly parking was not a problem and the staff were friendly and helpful, but that's where the plus points ended. You are not allowed to wander around at your own pace, as you are accompanied by staff on a guided tour. There is a building...More

We paid $25 each for a 40min loop of 10 birds. 5 weka and 5 owls. Was told this included a farm walk but we were told to head back after viewing the owls. Very disappointing and overall daylight robbery. Was not impressed.

The family run business is very interesting and staff very knowledgable and informative. Was great to be able to walk through the animal enclosures and to see the farm animals around the estate.
