Get a colectivo from the terminal on the south side of Parque San Juan (calle 69A) heading to opichen (30 pesos p/p), tell the driver you're going to grutas calcehtok and he'll let you off by the start of the path to the entrance. It's a 2km walk from there but if you're lucky the guides will appear on motorbikes... More

Hello there, my name´s Livio III and please click on like you liked the review… I visited these grottos last year with my girlfriend and some friends, I´m a fan of extreme sports (at least the ones where you don´t usually end up getting killed) and doing some hiking underground is one of them..they are almost in the border line... We did the Calcehtok (X'Batun) caves mid morning and selected the two hour adventure tour. The tour cost $300 MXP for two adults total. We are two mid-twenties adults in decently athletic shape. Our guide spoke little English and we had very basic knowledge of Spanish but were able to communicate fine. I think if you didn't know any Spanish,... More

We rented a car from Merida and drive there since it's the easiest way. At the entrance we were welcome by a friendly man of about 60 years old, very humble and not pushy at all (contrary to what we read in some reviews here). We took a tour of 3 hours mixing easy and difficult path. This tour is... More

The reviews here helped significantly prepare me for the challenge of this adventure. I LOVED it. I went twice within 10 days and had just as much fun the second time. I was a bit more prepared the second time. Wearing pants or capri's that cover your knees was HUGE! (wore shorts the first time - but you do a... More

great place, the cave is huge, the 4 hour tour is amazing, you'll end up tired and thirsty so bring water and some snacks so you can have a bite when you finish exploring the cave. it is not recommended for people with phobias as the places can be really tight, with warm air or cold air and you'll find... You pay the guides in the parking lot. I am unsure if there are guides that speak english. We went there with our own guide, but the guys who work there still go with you.

This place was pretty amazing. One of the most impressive caves I have been in anywhere. Guide really spoke no English but we got along alright. The sheer size of this is what makes this so unique. We did the simple family tour. Parts were slippery so wear good shoes. They provide headlamps. Our guide pointed out parts of the... More

One of the cenotes there is seems like an island under the ground, very genuine not that full of tourist and surrounded by local country life.
