Just a belated review to thank Rosemary and her family for hosting us in Feb 2023! In short-
the accomodation, location, and hospitality were all completely perfect.
Myself and some friends were visiting from Brisbane and came across this home in Ranelagh, a scenic drive (or bus ride) from the Hobart CBD. From the moment we arrived and walked through the archway of jasmine flowers, Rosemary's place was a perfect, idyllic home away from home. Her generous hospitality, together with her and her family's passion for the wine industry ensured that our stay was comfortable, felt luxurious, and left us in wont of nothing. From the fully equipped kitchen and laundry, to the stunning mountain views overlooking the home orchard, to the beautifully appointed bedrooms and living spaces, to the cheese platter and fresh local juice upon arrival, the accommodation was perfect. There is even a fire pit and fireplace for the cooler months. Our one disappointment was that we only booked to stay two nights - however each of us will most definitely be returning to this beautiful accommodation and to the Home Hill Estate Winery in the future. Thank you again Rosemary, Kelly, and the rest of the family and staff!

I’D LIKE TO REVIEW HOME HILL COTTAGE OWNED BY HOME HILL WINERY.
We just loved, loved this divine Cottage. Rosemary, the owner has very stylish taste. It appeared there had not been many guests before us as everything looked like it was brand new! Everything was spotlessly clean & the arrival cheese platter added a lovely touch.
Enjoyed our morning cuppa in the garden each morning where we were taken right back to our wonderful holidays in country Italy & France! Right down to the lavender in the garden! Magic…
The fresh flowers inside from the cottage garden added the perfect personal touch. Unfortunately roses don’t grow well in hot & humid QLD!
We visited all the local weekend markets & bought some wonderful produce to cook up in our kitchen with views! We enjoyed a Long Lunch at Fat Pig Farm during our stay, went to the Geeveston Twilight Feast, dined at the Peppermint Bay Hotel, Woodbridge & were spoilt by a wonderful late lunch at Home Hill Winery across the road. The local bakery is phenomenal but sadly the General Store was closed for January holidays.

Beautiful setting, friendly service. After a fairly lengthy wait for its arrival, my barramundi dish was perfection, my husbands sirloin also very good, supplemented by a shared serving of delicious roast pumpkin. Accompanying wines were also most enjoyable. Again there was a wait for dessert - my Christmas pudding parfait was delicious, my husband’s cheesecake was tasty but almost liquid - seemed not to have set. Still a very pleasant experience overall.

Very poor experience upon entering the beautiful winery. When waiting at the bar was ignored by staff & when asked if I could taste wine was very rudely told that we are busy!!! I then asked if I could see a menu & was equally rudely told that I would need to order quickly as the kitchen closes at 3pm & this was at 2:15pm!!
I also noticed other ppl waiting inordinate amounts of time to be acknowledged by staff
The waitress was out right rude & dismissive & rushed us. No pleasantries were conveyed. We have been to at least 15 other wineries in Tasmania on our food & wine safari, and not one other winery that we have visited has treated us so poorly. We have spent a considerable amount of money on wine purchases & Home Hill unfortunately has missed out due to the poor decorum by your waitress & wine tasting staff. Our meal & 2 wines were lovely, but very overshadowed by the rudeness of two female staff members

Visited on the 8th Jan for my birthday lunch. From the moment we entered the dining room we were looked after so well by the waiter.
The five of us chose two different starters, I had the chicken parfait which was delicious. Others had the soufflé and said it was extremely good. Main course ---Market Fish, cooked superbly and presentation excellent.
Memorable meals all round. Probably one of the best lunches I've had in a long time

Had the most delightful lunch for my 31st birthday today. The soufflé was delicious, decadent but not too rich. I had the market fish Harpuka and my housemates had the pork and the steak. We also had dessert... I had a spoonful of all, but my own choice the strawberry clafoutis was perfection! One of my housemates is GF and she had enough choice which was easily displayed on the menu for her, she was also able to have a selection of little deserts (macaroons, brownies, truffles)... The wine was also delicious and we topped it off with a some coffees. Our waitress was perfectly accommodating and attentive. An enjoyable time overall!
One of my housemates even exclaimed, "This is the best meal I've had in a VERY long time." Will definitely return in the summer when we sit outside and enjoy the beautiful grounds.

Visited Home Hill on Sunday 27th June. Purchased wine and wollen clothing,spending a considerable amount of money.
Beautiful products,however service on this day was very indifferent and no interest from lady serving,spoilt our overall experience. such a pity.

Disappointed. Love the venue and have been before, but menu very different now. Pork chops very tricky to eat, duck breast chewy and fatty. Tiny accompanying green veg .. witlof and kale .. uninviting. Waitress had no idea what they were.

Oh my God. What a fabulous way to spend a lazy Sunday. Fabulous friends, glorious weather and spectacular food. Everything was perfect. The cheese souffle was perfection. The octopus was tender. The steak was incredible and the fish was superb. Definitely recommend. Definitely will be going back. Thank you Home Hill. Well done Rosemary, Kelly and team.

We were looking forward to a wine tasting, a glass of wine, and purchasing a bottle of our favourite wine, however we didn’t even get to taste the wine! We waited to be approached by a staff member, which we were not. We then went and started looking at the tastings menu and someone came over. We said we were thinking of a wine tasting and then a glass of wine. We were asked if we had made a booking, which we hadn’t. Then we were told the tables were full. We said that was ok as we would just have a glass outside. The lady behind counter said she would have to check if that was ok. She then went outside and came back and told us it was busy outside and that they had some booths available but they would be so hot for us to sit in and that we wouldn’t really enjoy that. We then said we would be happy to just sit on the grass, she then looked outside again and made out we were being very annoying. We then waited awkwardly for her to respond. To which she responded in the rudest and most exasperated tone, “oh well what do you want then?”
We had had enough by then and told her it was obviously all too hard and that we were done, and we left, to which she replied, ‘Good’ as we walked out.
