It was great to be able to explore the army museum and get an understanding of the history, particularly of the Townsville area. The volunteers were all really lovely and knowledgeable.

Not especially a military museum fan, but glad we called in here. When we found it only cost a voluntary donation to get in and was manned by volunteers, we thought it would be worth a look, but adjusted our expectations accordingly. How wrong we...More

This is a fantastic local museum run by volunteers. There are several areas documenting all theatres of war with fantastic relics and replicas. Plenty of information available and it's definitely worth a visit when in the area. Be sure to check its opening hours first.

We visited this museum recently, following a recommendation from a local. When you walk in the front door, you may think it is only one room of memorabilia, but there are three more rooms. Take your time - ask the volunteers questions - they are...More

3 sections packed with information on WW1, WW2 then Korea/Vietnam and peacekeeping operations, the latter of particular interest to me. Free entry makes it even more attractive.
