Founded by the local nobility at the end of the 16th century, the Real Maestranza maintains a horse-riding school and is also the builder of an impressive bullring, in the centre of the romantic town of Ronda, near Malaga and the Costa del Sol. In modern times, the principal activities are devoted to the conservation of its unique historical and artistic heritage. It has gained a deserved reputation for the recovery of archives, works of art, libraries and original documents relating to its history. The bullring is open to the general public all year round and the visit includes the Bullfighting Museum, the Royal Harness Collection and the Antique Firearms Collection.

This was such an interesting place to visit. I knew very little about bullfighting, and was well informed by the free audio guide and all the exhibits in the museum. It was good being able to walk through all the areas.

As a party of two adults and two 12-year-old children, we purchased a family ticket for €22 and took our time to take a good look around all the museum sections, collections and galleries, as well as the bullring itself. Overall, it was something we all enjoyed and learnt from, and we personally found it to be good value.

It is overpriced and there isn't much to see. If you haven't seen any Plaza de Toros in your life, take a look.

So worth the price of admission to tour the arena and the museum of bullfighting. The costumes, memorabilia and the history of this quaint town is all there for you to read and learn about.

We visited the Plaza de Toros while on a tour in Ronda. This was our first time in a bull ring and it was a real experience. Even though it was empty, you could imagine the stand full of spectators and the roar of the crowd. We also got to see the inside of the facility including the pens and... More

A very interesting and historically rich site with great views and a few displays. Maybe a bit pricey for the experience, but still a must visit!

There is a large cast bull outside and the plaza sits at one end of the town. Be sure to see the historic bridge and views of olive trees as far as the eye can see.

To get the full experience you had to rent the audio guide, as the displays had little in the way of explanations or information. Personally we found the audio drawn out and lost interest. Appreciate its place in Ronda / Spain's history - but think much more can be done to make it a more interesting and informative 'attraction'. We... More

We went at 10am so empty at first and great way to appreciate the scale of the ring. Largest ring in Spain totally built of stone. Museums good.

8 euros entry for OAP, for a rather poorly presented, dark, ill-lit museum & access to an empty bull ring & its surrounding stone seats. It offered so little compared to the wonderful art museums etc in Madrid (OAP entry 7 euros). We were "underwhelmed". With some imagination + audiovisual presentations etc, this historic bullring could have been displayed so... More
