This is a beautiful park to see on a day trip from Quito. We went to the lagoon - La Mica (?) And there were nice trails there for walking/hiking with gorgeous vistas. Look for condors in this area. There was a viewpoint on the way overlooking the cliffs where several nest and we were lucky enough to see a few.

Highly recommend a visit to Antisana to see the Andean Condors and other wildlife of the Ecuadorian highlands. Beautiful views. Lots of wildlife. Not crowded at all. We travelled there on a private tour with Daniel, the owner of our hotel - Hacienda La Jimenita in Quito. Saw 28 condors, Caracaras, Andean White-tailed deer, rabbits and more. If you are interested in wildlife and stopping in Quito on your way to the Galapagos, I definitely recommend a day in Antisana.

We had an incredible visit to Antisana Ecological Reserve to see the condors and the incredible reserve. We had hoped to see condors and hired a fantastic guide, Santiago Salazar of Neotropical Nature and Birding Trips (neotropicalecuador.com) . Santiago picked us up at our hotel and drove us to the park. On the way, he pointed out things of interest, filled us in on the Ecuadorean culture and talked of the challenges of protecting the environment and the reserve. When we arrived, he took us to the nesting spot for the condors and set up his scope for a closer view. He even took a photo through the scope using my iPhone. We also saw condors soaring overhead, but the close-up view was unforgettable and we NEVER would have spotted it without Santiago.
We walked to the lake and he was able to point out numerous species of birds, and even stopped to rescue a hummingbird in distress.

We had an incredible lunch at Tambo Condor and highly recommend stopping there. Lunch and entrance fees were included in our package.

Santiago can be reached via WhatsApp and was very quick to respond. +593 99 796 6818

We would not have had the experience we had if we had driven on our own. A private tour is the way to go, and well worth the cost.

If you are unsure about traveling because of COVID, we felt very safe and comfortable the entire trip to Ecuador. Don't hesitate, it is an incredibly beautiful country!

We arrived at the entrance of Antisana at 5 minutes past 2 and we're refused entry on May 1. We were not forewarned that the gate closed at 2, no exceptions. We had good weather and were expecting to spend our afternoon birding the La Mica lagoon but we're disappointed.

This Antisana reserve at 12,000 feet of altitude is beautiful! The reserve has done a great job helping the Condor to return. We've visited a couple times a year since 2013 and the number of condor are growing. Besides flying high above or perched on their nests on the sides of the cliff, we saw a juvenile land right in front of us, just breathtaking,

Took a day trip from Quito to Antisana in search of condors with Suviatour and it was an excellent day!
Luis Albuja was an exceptional guide. His knowledge of the region, history, flora and fauna was broad and deep
The landscape was breathtaking and not just because we were at 13000 ft. Luis was excellent at spotting wildlife. We saw 5 condors! Lots of hummingbirds, caracaras, ibis, gulls. I’m not a birder, but the thrill of seeing an Andean condor soar above your head is jaw dropping. The trip included a hike to an observation platform where the volcano made an appearance from behind the clouds. We had a great lunch up on the mountain overlooking a valley and enjoyed watching hummingbirds flit about.
A great day. And when you stop at the panderia make sure to buy the cheese filled cornetos- delish.

Antisana is a breathing reserve near Quito 3200 meters above the sea level. Condors can easily be found and the nature around is awesome!

We spent 3 days in the Cloud Forest and made the 4am start to Antisana on the day we flew home. We’re so glad we did when rewarded with 4 Condor, 2 right over our heads. But we also had many more birds including Ibis, Variable Hawk and Buzzard-Eagle. The thinner air at this altitude is certainly noticeable. We had breakfast and lunch at Tambo Condor, giving us further views of a Condor on the cliff opposite.

We just arrived back from a day long tour of Antisana ecological reserve. Our guide was Richard Hernandez and we cannot recommend him enough. We saw several Andean Condors, rare hummingbird species, I as well as many other species including Isbis, falcons and Cara Cara. Even if you aren't interested in birds, the natural landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. Our guide, Richard, is a certified naturalist and was able to explain the details of the reserves ecosystem and point out interesting flora and fauna along the way. Richard also speaks English and Spanish so we were able to work on our Spanish skills and still benefit from English translation when we didn't understand something in Spanish. At the end of our trip we hiked up the ridge at lake Mica and made it to the top despite having to take a few breaks because of the altitude. finally, if you want to experience a beautiful eco reserve without all of the tourist traffic of

Really wonderful place! We saw at least 12 of the Andean condor. I was so intrigued looking in my binoculars I didn't get any pics! It's a beautiful drive there. We stopped at a hacienda for hot chocolate too. I've attached a few pics
