    Elephant mud fun
This experience was once in a lifetime and would highly recommend! Purnata was clear and explained the timeline of the morning. The mahouts are so respectful and gentle with the elephants and it shows. The elephants move when they want to, stand/ sit down when they want to and they and relaxed and have fun too! Terima kasih banyak 🙏

    A memorable day
We had breakfast with the orangutan’s and got a private tour with Hanter. I hope Hanter knows the absolute joy he brings with his tours and knowledge. What an amazing morning. Well done to Bali zoo for the outstanding opportunities they offer people for feeding and viewing the animals. Best most affordable zoo in the world.

    Elephant mud fun experience
Elephant mud fun experience. We had a great morning playing with Molly (our Elephant) in the mud. Munif our guide was very knowledgeable and provided us with lots of background on the Elephants. Molly was a very friendly, cheeky, gentle giant. Fininshed off with lovely buffet in the restaurant. Would highly recommend.

    Elephant mud bath
We did the elephant mud bath - the experience. It was worth every rupiah. The guides were engaging and kind. Our guide Trisna was fun and helped us make the most of the experience with elephants. Our ticket included transfers to and from the Zoo and lunch! I strongly recommend.

Firstly, the 400,000 rupiah entry is a bit steep for what's on show, particularly when you find half the place is under construction. This means no lions, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, etc. Being Indonesia, I really wanted to see a Komodo Dragon, these magnificent creatures grow to around 4m in the wild. The zoo has 2 babies, 1m each, that don'r really cut it. Indonesia means Orang Utans too, but again only a couple of babies playing outside. I was told the rest are inside to 'limit their contact with humans'. Pretty daft when you consider they are forced to have breakfast with the humans every day! Elephants too, lining up like taxis to give rides to whoever will pay for them. I'm sure the zoo will be better in future, but while all the construction is going on, I can only rate it poor value for money.

The place is in a beautiful setting, but bring your cash. Everything inside costs a fortune. An ice cream was 60000, which is about $7.50AUD and we are talking basic. When you pay for the entrance fee, that’s just pennies with the price of everything inside. Drinks are double the price that you pay in restaurants, let s alone at a supermarket. Pony rides, another 50000, elephant ride, another small sum gone, lunch, enjoy. Spent more money on this day at the zoo than anything else we did in Bali.
I’m all for paying and providing to support the welfare of animals etc, and to the local economy, but it’s never nice when you get the feeling you are being ripped off. It’s not how you want to feel going somewhere.
As far as a zoo, it’s nice, but it is not the best.
Like everywhere in Bali, service is great.
I was also really disappointed to see that the zoo has not eliminated the use of plastics. Plastic containers and straws are still common place in s the stores, which is really upsetting considering this place is supposed to be helping conservation. This should be changed straight away.
One good thing I have seen in Bali a lot, is an effort to reduce single use plastic. In the majority of restaurants, you only get paper straws. The right step forward. But a shame that this effort was not evident at the Zoo.
They currently have a major construction project with a new enclosure, so have of the entry side is closed.
Having said all that, nice visit but felt ripped off once inside. Not likely to ever come again on future Bali visits. I would rather donate a few hundred dollars to real conservation efforts.

Dear our valued visitor, Warm greetings from Bali Zoo Thank you for sharing your thoughts about us on TripAdvisor. We regret that we were not able to meet some of your expectations during your visit. We appreciate your comments and we are pleased to inform you starting January 2020 all of our restaurants have been using bamboo straw and currently the new policy regarding the plastic usage had been passed on to our tenants and some of them have switched to be using a biodegradable paper cup and we hope we're making continuous progress for the environment in the future. The Elephant mud fun was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend doing it. Prunata was very knowledgeable about the elephants and made the experience very enjoyable. There were three elephants and about 18 people so we were split into groups of 6 per elephant to ensure we all got plenty of time with the gentle giants. Our elephant was Moli and she was gorgeous, her handler was fantastic too! (sorry I can’t remember his name). We prepared food, fed the elephants while posing for photos, gave Moli a mud bath, rinsed her off and then hopped into the pool with the elephants. Overall a one of a kind experience, finished off with lunch at Sanctoo villas restaurant.
The only down side to this experience was because we were in the water we weren’t able to take our own photos after feeding the elephants. They did have a professional photographer taking photos throughout the experience but the cost of the photos was extremely overpriced, converting to approximately $45AUD per photo or $150AUD for a copy of all your photos on a USB.

The zoo itself was quite nice and there were lots of experiences you could pay to do through out, like feeding the limas and feed the tigers. There is a little shuttle bus that takes you from one part of the zoo to the other.

Hery was amazing in explaining and answering questions about Terry and all the other elephants. Highly recommend doing the Mud Fun was an experience of a life time and one I’ll never forget. From the moment we got there to the moment we left we was welcomed by friendly staff. The free lunch included was also delicious. You’ll get the option to buy professional photos which are amazing we actually purchased all them 190 in total I believe, which you also get 8 prints in a nice little folder. If we come back to Bali we will be looking at the villas in the zoo itself. Thanks for an amazing day Hery.

We originally paid for our 12 & 14 year old to do what was entitled ‘orangutan breakfast’ and ‘elephant mud fun’ and we (parents) just paid for the zoo entrance fee. When we arrived we were expecting, as parents, not to have breakfast but at least escort / supervise our children but were told we couldn’t. I wasn’t comfortable leaving my two unsupervised so in the end my son and I did the breakfast and my husband and daughter stayed back until the zoo opened at 9am. Glad we did that as breakfast was good, lots of choice and lots of animals, not just orangutans, however, not suitable for 2 children by themselves as busy and you need to help yourself to a busy buffet breakfast area and then assert yourself in order to get anywhere near the animals (I was told there were around 70 for breakfast on that day). Animals there included elephants, pangolins, porcupine, gibbon (and baby) as well as orangutans. After this, we met up with my husband and daughter and made our way to the elephant mud fun. My daughter swapped back on to do this with my son, as parents were able to view / supervise. The elegant experience was fun, first cutting up the fruit, then feeding the elephants, then walk into a mud bath (warm!) and put mud on your legs (to protect yourself from flies) and put mud on elephants, then you go into the outside showers with the elephants to wash the mud off, finally you go with the elephants into a pool area and have some splash fun with them. After this you shower up (towels, lockers provided) and head to a nice buffet lunch which the children enjoyed. We spent a further couple of hours walking around the zoo which had a good selection of animals. All in all a great experience, only given 4 stars as there were so many photographers and your then encouraged to buy the photo pack which starts at IDR 1.4 million as well as the zoo being relatively small.

Great day. My kids (6,7 & 17) all thoroughly enjoyed the zoo. Very well maintained and animals seem very well cared for. I was actually surprised how great the enclosures were. We had breakfast with the orangutans, rode the elephants (seemed very happy and the rider genuinely loved them) highly recommend a visit here. Zoo Driver picked us up from our hotel at Grand Hyatt Nusa dua, took us to our best adventure ATV and coffee tea on the way back to hotel at no extra charge. Thank you Bali Zoo

Did the Orangutan Breakfast and then looked around the zoo for a couple of hours. Breakfast was amazing, got to see elephants, birds, monkeys and more as well as the orangutans. Definitely recommend doing the breakfast, because it means you get to walk around the zoo before it gets busy, and also before it gets too hot! Also recommend bringing small change as you can pay for extra experiences including feeding tigers and meerkats. Had a great day!

We read mixed reviews online but so glad we came. Arriving early in the morning we got a great seat in the restaurant. It started off with elephants coming out followed by the orangutans swinging in to join. The experience was great and the animals seemed to be treated great and allowed to do what they wanted. The breakfast buffet was also amazing with our wonderful server Gus De Overall a great experience would highly recommend!

One of the best days of my travels. We were picked up early in the morning and arrived before the park is open to all other customers. Breakfast is a big buffet with a range of different foods. Not only was the breakfast with the orangutan but there was also elephants which you could get photos with. We also paid to do the elephant mud fun which i highly recommend such a good experience - this also included lunch. We then went around the zoo and were able to feed the tigers and the crocodile - however you do have to hang around a bit as they only get fed at certain times of the day.
