Truly one of the highlights of my trip to Tunisia. If YOU ever decide to come to Tunisia, you absolutely MUST make time in your schedule for Dougga. The Roman ruins here are in some of the best condition that I have ever seen. And I have seen a few. If you were wowed by the Roman Forum in Rome... More

Quite a lot to see as is, but our guide told they've only uncovered but a few of the 60 hectares still get to uncover I couldn't believe it. The narrow alleyways, the tunnels the slaves used and the roads worn down from carts, almost gives you a feeling of what life was like. There are in fact 4 different... More

Dougga occupies a fantastic site - on top of a hill overlooking a large fertile plain. Even today, you get a sense of why it was important and the source of its wealth. It is very well preserved and you can see all the normal attributes of a prosperous Roman town - plus some local Punic elements too. If you... More

I really enjoyed this - there's so much here that's preserved so you can really get a feel for the town. You can even see the track marks from the old carts. Mosaics, Roman baths, the town hall - I would definitely revisit this place.

Dougga is about two hours from Tunis. I hired a car to drive me there and to the ruins at Bulla Regia. If you like to explore ruins, this is a very fun sight as there are many different ancient streets and paths winding through the site. Dougga is a large site with a wide variety of well preserved structures,... More

If you visit Tunisia find a way to get to Dougga. The large ruins site is amazing. The best preserved site in North Africa, Dougga ranks up there with any ruins site in Europe that we've visited. Not only are the ruins incredible, but the lush landscape around them make for some of the most breathtaking views in Tunisia.

Dougga is a must see if you have a free day in Tunis. We are so glad we made the time to visit (it was a full day trip). To get there, we walked to the northern louage station at Bab Saadoun. A louage driver was yelling "DOUGGA, DOUGGA, DOUGGA" and we hopped in and waited for more passengers to... More

It is a couple of hours from Tunis (the capital) but it is worth the drive! very interesting and huge! a lot of building are still intact. If you like historical places this the perfect place to see ancient ruines.

This place combines theaters, temples, baths, houses and Mosaics, it is situated in the north of country and built on top of a hill, it is one of these places where you can walk and touch an enjoy everything. I wish the government pays more attention to this place and start preserving it, all the mosaics are falling apart and... More

really nice place to get away from the city. however, the lack of services is not convenient, there is only one restaurant close to the site with below the avg food. if you wanna visit the site it is better to be prepared and have water, refreshments and maybe some snacks too
