It is a nice walk in and I took the mule ride back for fun. You would be surprised how hard it is to ride that mule. Be careful because the old man will try to charge you more in the end. Just give him what you agreed and leave. Definitely swim. The water was warm in April and gorgeous... More

Stunningly beautiful wadi with clear, cool waters. This is a place you come to swim, nothing else, so to thoroughly enjoy this place, you have to be able to swim. Although the scenery is gorgeous, and the hikers will enjoy a walk out to the cave and the pools further up the mountain, its the the water that was the... More

This was our favorite Wadi for swimming. Easy access from the parking lot to a large area of natural pools. Good infrastructure with a little café/restaurant, pick-nick tables, toilets. Popular with locals and tourists alike. Decent swimming wear is advised, but no one really seems to care as Omanis are quite tolerant. If you want to avoid the crowds (especially... More

One of the most amazing wadis in Oman. It is close to the Ras Al Jinz turtle reserve or also close to the desert. One has to visit this. We went on a Saturday which was a very busy day. It is very well signposted and you can find it without difficulties. Good parking available. Once you get there walking... More

The signs tell you not to swim here but at the encouragement of our local guide, we were quick to give it a go. As you put your feet into the cooler water the first thing you are struck with, are the small fish keen to nibble at your toes, which can be a bit of a scare if you... More

One of the most picturesque places in Oman. Luckily when I was there it was almost empty of tourists and the experience was even better and allowed great pictures to be taken. Hike up the gorge for some good swimming inbeteeen the steep cliffs. Definitely recommend that place, great stop between Nizwa and Sur.

There might be even more beautiful Wadis in Oman, but Bani Khalid is one worth seeing it. The water area closed to the parking is quite crowded, so - If you are able - walk deeper into the Wadi where you find less people and quiet spots for swimming.

We went in March end of the season. It's all asfalt except the last 500m walking to the small lake in front of the restaurant. During high season (dec-feb) up to 3500 people visit the place. It's part of the (guided) tourist tour scene. However when we visited (9:09am) a group left, leaving the place almost alone for us. We... More

Went there in February and is absolutely a must place to visit when you visiting Oman. Spend a night about 25 km to the wadi and about 30 minutes driving through winding road. Easily access with rented car. Great surrounding the moment you arrive, no worries about parking area, you can park nicely , walk about 10 minutes or less... More

We went on a Friday, so it was probably it's busiest. Lots of rock pools to swim and places to picnic.
