To many the desert is an arid wilderness with nothing but sand for miles.A place where there is intense heat during the day and somewhere that even in the summer can be cold at night, but if you have never experienced a well organised trip into the deseret and you have the opportunity please take it for it is without a doubt a most magical experience you will remember for life.
There are mountains-these change colour depending on the season and the time of day, there are numerous plans and animals and there are often bedoiun people going about their business.
Organised safaris can be commerically orientated but for the first timer this is the best way to experience the desert. They usually offer a combination of 4x4 off road transportation, quad biking, camel rides and a stop at a usually purpose built Bedoiun village, but its still an experience not to be missed.
Dont forget lots of water, sun cream and a hat and something to shade you from the sun to save being burnt or to keep you warm if it cools down.
Always travel with a reputable company too!

what ever you do dont book this its awful!! we were taken to a dusty building in the middle of now where. went on some quads which was cool, then bundled in to a transit van and diven over desert with no A/C for 20 mins!!! no seat belts, just thin benches, we were falling in to each other and sliding around in our own sweat! taken to a dusty out crop where there was dying/dead snakes and little old women burning camel pooh. then back in the van (thankfully my other half is a beg fella and demanded we sit in front with windows down. food was bad when we had our meal. I hated it from start to finish!!!

booked a day quad biking, cost le250 about £25 .you are giving a scarf for you face(lawrence of arabia style)you are first told how to operate the quad bike, which is turn on, the throttle is on the right, brake on your left, you are then told to ride in a circle to see how you can manage the bike, you then follow in a line and then off into the sahara (i was one from the end and at first i just tried to keep up sometimes veering to the left then right. the journey can be bumpy(not recomended for people who don`t like sitting in one position or have very bad back problems.you are constantly asked to wave at a fellow with his video camera (which you can buy)the journey is dusty, the journey seemad to take about an hour,we then stoped for lunch which was self service,(salad, veg, kebab, plus fizzy)afterwards we travelled on for a couple of minutes till we came to the camel area.you ride the camel for about 5 minutes (i gave a le10 tip(£1) to the bedouin lady which is expected.afterwards you can visit for le20(£2)and see snakes/scorpions etc,i found this to be o.k.has it becomes dark ,you are sown how to make pitta bread by a bedouin lady and also you can purchase oils/trinkets. the return journey is by night(bike lights on) which worried me because of my dodgy eyes. i explained this to the fellow in charge, and i was brought up to behind the leader to follow.the return journey under the moon light was the best bit of the trip for me. you can also buy photo`s

How much can you pack into one day, we were taken out into the desert and were soon on a camel,I could not be serious, after that we went in sand buggies round a sort of track, then it was off into the desert on quad bikes, we were escorted by guys in a pick up truck and they took pictures and video of every one which you could buy at the end of the day for a few pounds, well worth it. We stopped at a bedouin village, some thought it was fake, who could tell, who cared, it was good to me, on our return to base we had a cold drink and dinner was served with a show, snake charmer, belly dancers, male whirling dancers and these guys who laid on beds of nails and broken glass and ate fire, you know, sadists or is it fakirs. I had my first go on a shisha pipe, loved the whole thing good time terrific ambience.

Would recommend to all adrenaline junkies! We went with the company Travco and would thoroughly recommend them as you not only get to quad bike across the desert but also get to ride on camels and visit a traditional village in the desert!

Not sure if I'm reviewing the correct one as I thought it was called 'Ultimate Desert' but the day trip we attended was brilliant. We booked through Thomson at our hotel Premier Le Reve, and embarked on a day filled with so much!
When we arrived we were sat down and given a complimentary drink and bottles of water to keep up hydrated, and were introduced to our guide, Raymond. Everyone working there was polite and accommodating!
When we started we went on Spyder buggies in pairs or families for a short trip through a desert trail. After this we went on a trip through the desert on Quad bikes! It was brilliant!
After this we visited some Bedouin people and rode their camels, and on our return we had the opportunity to ride some horses and donkeys.
The only sad part was that I witnessed a camel being whipped (albeit short and to control the camel - it was threatening to bite) - being an animal lover this upset me a little! However it is part of their culture and you have to appreciate that - they also eat camel meat!
Throughout the trip, our guide Raymond enlightened us with so much information about the history of Egypt, the Bedouin people, the religions (Christianity and Islam), entertainment and also at the end of the day, star gazing knowledge! I now know exactly how to find the north star, a scorpion and we also viewed Jupiter through a large telescope!
The entrainment was also great, and the grounds were very authentic and relaxing - although if you are not keen on cats you may not enjoy the company of the resident cats at dinner time - but again being an animal lover this just added to my excitement! We watched a belly dancer and whirling dervish and it was fab, whilst having a buffet dinner and BBQ.
All in all this was an absolutely amazing day and I would recommend this to anyone! BRILLIANT value for money.

For £25 English pounds the amount you got for your money was extraordinary. Anyone looking to go to Egypt this is a must: quads, dirt buggies, camel ridding, horse and donkey riding, food and also a visit to see snakes is included. Amazing day but ensure you were suitable clothing as it is very hot and the quads will burn you please take glasses as sand will get in your eyes and a scarf can be bought for 5 L.E
