These thermal baths are so beautiful. He is retired in a very quiet place. To get here it is better to leave Urubamba towards Calca, the bus costs 7 soles and from Calca to Lares the trip takes 1 hour and a half. Getting to Lares you have to walk for about 15 minutes. To stay there are some very original bungalows near the thermal baths, the owner's name is Celso. To see photos .

The pools have hot water, warm and warm water. There are three hot pools, one hotter than the other. I liked the outdoor experience I thought it would be cold but it wasn't. They're constantly cleaning up. You must wear a lock to use the lockers. The showers are outdoors and very relaxing warm water comes! There is a big jet of water that falls and you can massage into.

Not easy to reach there; From Cusco, you need to go to Calca via Pisaq or Urubamba, then another 2 hours bus ride from Calca via unpaved road, then 20 min upward walk (no bus). But the scenery en route is truly fabulous, complimenting the whole visit, and this place really worth the effort. 7 concrete pool is not appearing, but the brown-colored hot spring water (35-45 degree C) and picturesque setup in mountan valley is truly relaxing and refreshing. There is an observatory on the other side of the valley, which made a good break when I got too hot in the pool.

Admission fee for foreigner is 10 soles, Camping on site is only 7 soles with free access to the pool till 10pm and from 4am is great value. I wanted to use the private room with private bathroom (50 soles per person) but they were full when I arrived, and I stayed at a lodge 50m outside the termales (50 soles per room, shared bathroom).

The place is astonishing and beautiful. The hot water springs are a must visit that you will really enjoy. Unfortunately, my friend and I stayed in one of the rooms overnight and we got robbed. They took our money from our room while we were in the hot water springs. My advice lock your valuables and be careful somebody is stealing money from the tourists: a real shame.

Lares is hidden between mountains and the road going there is a part of the attraction while the hot spring is certainly a great destination. There are 7 pools with various tempratures of water from near-boiling to cold as the river. They take care around the pools to keep it clean but on crowded days it gets messy. Also good to avoid on weekends. The accommodations in the aguas termales are very basic and run down, but just a little below there are other better rooms. Keep in mind that there are no shops in the aguas termales and the only one just outside is closed randomly. So bring your water from town. Also the sun disappears behind the hill between 2-3 pm so it's better to visit earlier in the day.

We arrived here and camped the night after hiking 30kms from Urubamba. It was a nice place to unwind and soak the sore muscles after hiking for so long. The locals are friendly, but if you're a westerner I'd dress modestly. I realised this after getting some inquisitive, weird looks for many of my tattoos :)

I love the Lares Hot Springs. It is absolutely off the beaten track, but that is part of the fun! The walk to get there is short, about 20 minutes, but what else could you want before a soak in the springs? There are also many vans and taxis that will gladly take you up for cheap. This is a great place to come after have been trekking around Peru. There are limited places to stay and eat in Lares, but it is great to get away from the more touristy places around. Definitely a must do in the Sacred Valley!1

Not easy to find, best bet is to go to the main square in the town and ask anyone. (Basically, go straight through the square, and when it looks like the street ends, hang a left and follow your nose. Like most all roads up here in the Andes, it is a rocky rutted deal). You'll pass a school and mausoleum on your right (below you, near the river), then you'll finally see the sign.

When you get to the fancy new facility (being built when we visited in 9/2013), stay right and it is only a short distance to the spa complex.

A series of concrete pools and showers of varying temperatures in a stunning setting. Walking and hiking trails (across the pedestrian bridge) provide incredible views.

If you're expecting a Paris or Miami-grade attraction, what are you doing in Peru anyway?

Not to be missed.

There was little care and maintenance. Dirty pools as well as changing rooms. People mess with clothes, nobody controls it.
