Amazing place to visit. This has been laid out so well, the wording on the pillars makes it interesting to read.

It is good that Towns remember the deeds done by past generations and this stands out on the point next to the fair ground for all to see

What a lovely place the war memorial is, it represents the soldiers either coming and going from the waters edge two by two. The children love the monument as it is open to the sky and to the park areas surround this monument. It feels serene and welcoming yet still gives the vibe of celebrating the endevours of those killed during the wars our nation has partaken in. This area is floodlight at night and look spectacular with the beautiful dual white columns rising from the water and moving slowly over the hill. Whoever designed this monument was an artist.

The Mandurah War Memorial is different to the more traditional, I'd probably consider it as being abstract construction. White pillars of varying height symbolise the loss of life, the wounded, those that returned and their quest for peace. It is designed in an East/West orientation to capture the axis of the sun on ANZAC Day. There is a pool of water discharging water into the estuary; this symbolises the tide lapping at Anzac Cove. A black stone plinth stands in the centre of the pool. There are various plaques commemorating the various theatres of war where Australian service men and women were involved. The entire area of Memorial Park is very well maintained.

The memorial is designed to represent the soldiers marching on to the beaches and where they fell. The sound commentary on the nearby seat was excellent and told interesting stories from various perspectives.

It occurs to me that has finally got the seating right. Yes, I can be a bit challenged if walking too long continuously (old hockey injury). One of the best things about going for a wander about Mandurah is the seating is often and frequent enough between walking and were actual seats aren't plenty sitting on the concrete steps is good enough to rest the ankle. A few months back I sat on a seat overlooking the estuary at the relatively NEW merorial and chatted with a friend for 30 minutes reflecting on family war stories.
