A short walk from town is this excellent replica of a brig. The attendant was friendly and informed. For a mere $5, you are gifted with a pleasant and engaging 45minutes (at least) of the town's history and the part that naval vessels played in the establishment of Albany. There is also an acknowledgment of the indigenous people's perspective, which... More

This is a great place to understand some of the history of Albany and how life was like aboard the Brig Amity, it opened up out eyes and this is something you should do here

For a very cheap (compared to many attractions) fee you can spend a good hour looking around the small ship. Using the provided audio tour you get a sense of the life that early settlers and pioneers must have endured. Very informative and the staff were quick with more details and directions to other great local attractions worth visiting.

This is interesting but not that special. The display is part of the Museum area which is also interesting but could be better but good that some of the history of the area is presented.

Modern built but in the old style, this attraction is very informative and extremely affordable. $5 per person gets you on board with a pre recorded commentary thrown in. The nearby museum and attached buildings are actually free to enter and get by on donations from patrons and sponsors alike. Themed displays are changed however frequently and when we were... More

We loved our exploration of the Brig Amity. Wandering around the replica was extremely interesting and the audio tour helped to compkete the picture. Definitely worth the $4 (concession).

An wonderful audio tour of the replica is a must whilst in Albany. Beware the low ceilings and bulkheads whilst below decks!

It was very interesting to learn the story of how Albany became colonised. When you arrive at the Replica of the Brig Amity you are given handsets which look like mobile phones that tells the story of how the settlers arrived in Albany. There are different number locations on the ships that indicate what story you listen to. The replica... More

I never went on-board but our friend did and he really enjoyed the boat and its history. You can get some great photos of the boat from the outside and you can see some of the original sea wall.

I was surprised at how small the ship was. Plenty of information about the ship, on one of those handheld recorders. Great for kids.
