Overview
More
Port Campbell National Park is world famous for its extraordinary collection of wave-sculpted rock formations and the Twelve Apostles. Loch Ard Gorge, site of the 19th century shipwreck 'Loch Ard', as well as the Island Archway and London Bridge are other highlights. The Island Archway collapsed in 2009, highlighting the fragile and ever-changing nature of Victoria's coastline. Start your visit by heading to the Twelve Apostles Kiosk and Carpark before taking the walk to view the amazing Twelve Apostles coastline. The site offers kiosk, information, shelter and toilets. Walk the short distance (500m) through a tunnel under the Great Ocean Road to various lookouts offering expansive, breathtaking views. From the Twelve Apostles carpark there is also an easy 2.2km return walk to Gibson Steps Lookout. The lookout is above the beach with excellent views East and West. Port Campbell National Park lies between Princetown and Peterborough, 285 km west of Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road (4-5 hours drive), and 240 km from Melbourne via Colac.

We visited with our UK couple and had a great time. Its all changed now with a visitor centre and a proper car park. Their idea is to keep people safe and protect the environment. We were disappointed to find so many people "going Bush"...More

Absolutely stunning place. Well worth the drive. The 12 apostles are magical in any weather. It doesn't matter how many photos you have seen, they are even better in real life. A must see for everyone. All the walking tracks felt very safe and well...More

Port Campbell national park area is stunning. It apparently makes up a lot off different attractions such as loch and gorge, Gibson steps and twelve apostles, and spans a massive area, so don't think it is just one spot. Fantastic.

Very beautiful place provided the crowd is not there. Many people fighting for the right spot for the best photoshoot.

It is a short walk from the free parking lot to the many viewpoints at the cliff edges of the rock columns in the ocean. You might have trouble taking photos due to other tourist taking photos. There are toilets and a kiosk, but no...More

I did see a few buses along the route, but felt like they were big tour buses. As for accommodation, we rented a house for 3 days. There are some smaller hotels around. Not sure on nightly minimums

A hire car if travelling from the airport, or maybe a bus tour. If driving, remember that the roads can be difficult and tiring. Accidents are common.
