Definitely make a quick stop along the Great Ocean Road with this archway the start of the long trek to the 12 Apostles
Nice photo op along the side of the busy road, and walk down to ocean along the LONG beach

Sold as a must-see despite the fact that seeing it will happen automatically (you've gotta drive under it as you make your way down the road) this arch celebrates the people who made The Great Ocean Road possible.

There is a chunk of parking here and some information boards to let you know what was achieved here mostly by ex-servicemen who were employed to carve the road out of the coastline.

It's a good photo opportunity as you complete The Great Ocean Road.

Well worth a stop for the iconic photo next to the Arch! Also make sure to look at "The Diggers" sculpture and read the information boards which provide insight into the construction of the Great Ocean Road. This area honours the 3000 returned WWI servicemen who built the GOR as a memorial to their fallen comrades.

Worth a quick stop if driving the Great Ocean Road. Apart from the archway across the road there is a statue of road workers and some information boards/plaques detailing how the road was built.

Learning about Great Ocean Road wasn't bad, but what gives it a high spot is there is a beach nearby I went to visit. They also explained history well.

My wife and I stopped here to take some photographs and read the information that is available in this well presented memorial, during our drive along the Great Ocean Road.

It was a Monday during off peak season and there were very few people around, which is excellent.

This was our eighth holiday along the Great Ocean Road over the years. It is one of our favourite destinations in regional Victoria. This time around, we stayed at The Sands Golf Resort in Torquay for two nights.

This is a must stop for a photo when traveling The Great Ocean Road!! There’s a couple do car parks available however I could imagine in peak season it would be difficult to park.

Wonderful monument to the memory of the ex servicemen who built the great ocean road, worth a stop to read about how it was done.

This is more than an arch and is the perfect spot to stop and honour those incredible soldiers that built this magnificent road. I felt quite emotional here and reflected on how blessed we are in this world today because of the sacrifices of so many. Please take the time to read all the signs and give yourself time out to digest what you have read. It certainly is the “Great” Ocean Road.

Not much to it and it is the 'start' of the Great Ocean Road.
Did the photo, along with a few others who stopped.
Had to do the selfie.
Cheers
