Google maps suggests it is a short trip from the Meander Valley Hwy from a town like Westbury. Because of the roads it takes much longer. After ignoring the speed limits, as you do in this part of the world, soon you will be on an unsealed winding, mountainous, pot holed and rain channeled car suspension adventure. Also the road is so narrow in places 2 cars cannot pass. I would not recommend this if the weather is wet. On one side is a steep, potentially fatal cliff, on the other is a big ditch. The road in places is extremely steep up and down. A few times the tires skidded and this was in very dry conditions. If you come across an oncoming car it could be a bit nervy. Anyway, I powered along thinking I would be there in an hour. The Falls are well sign posted, which is just as well since there is no mobile phone coverage when you get right into it. Just take a moment to read them because you could get lost. It's not overwhelming and return to civilization is well posted. Just before you get to the well designed car park where you have to walk to the falls (45 minutes walk) there is a little bridge with a 5 car carpark. Thinking I had to walk from there I parked the car and walked 450m up the 'road'. At the summit I saw 5-6 cars parked there and cursed myself. Never mind, I saw a sign that said 'big tree' and headed off to it. Not really that big to be honest and kept following the trail through wonderful double canopy rainforest (tree ferns, very tall ash and eucalypts - sometimes a crop of fir or pines.) Birdsong was worth recording. It seems the whole mountain has subterranean waterways as you trek you hear them and see grotto's and such - reminded me a lot of south Island NZ. Well after 45 minutes and no falls and a track that I started to imagine, I turned around lest I get lost. When I got past the 'big tree' and returned to the car park I saw a big park sign under a hut showing a map and beside it, in the opposite direction I walked a sign saying "Liffey Falls 45mins" . I had gone in the complete opposite direction. That day was 33 degrees, probably hotter. Cursing myself I just walked back to the car and drove away, vowing to come back next year. By the way the drive back was not nearly as nerve wracking but you have to be very careful, some bloke in a massive 4WD almost clipped me when we met unexpectedly around a hairpin bend.

I dropped here on the way from Cradle Mountain to Launceston. This was listed as a popular attraction so I assumed it would be a built up road. Passing Deloraine until the Riversdale road was fine. You would think the road would be wise enough for two cars and tarred for such an attraction. It was gravel road all the way with potholes and definitely narrow for two cars. Very small carpark. Toilets available. Around 20 minute walk each way with some uphill points. The actual waterfall is beautiful but didn't feel it was worth that sketchy drive and long walk. Drive at your own risk!

This is a nice walk through ferns and rainforest to two very nice sets of falls and well worth the 2 hour diversion (including the drive and walk) on the trip across the north of Tasmania.
However, those who reckon this was only 10 minutes’ walk clearly didn’t make it beyond the first set of falls, which is perhaps why many of them also found them underwhelming.
The real falls are about a 45 minute round trip, and include a few sets of steps which, while not that steep, may prove too much for some.
I suspect people are fooled because there’s no signs at the first falls to direct you on. But if you keep walking for about 10 minutes you will come to a junction which is well signposted and directs you down to the main cascade where there are good views.
This is an out and back track, so, follow the path back the way you came.
At the car park there’s another very short 1 minute walk to a giant tree.
The car park also contains toilets and covered picnic tables.
Beware though, not long after Deloraine this road becomes very winding, which may prove a problem for those prone to car sickness.
It’s also a dirt road for the last few klms, though well graded.

Not a great road in, you can only take a short wheelbase vehicle on what becomes a progressively rubbish dirt track with little room to pass vehicles coming the other way. Once there facilities are good but we couldn’t find potable water onsite. 1km/45min walk to very nice observation platforms. My 83 yo father had a knee replacement 6 weeks earlier and had little difficulty walking the 2km return trip with a walking stick. Wouldn’t bother unless there’s been rain as the falls obviously aren’t much if there’s little water.

Liffey Falls is a pretty 45 minute drive from Launceston (whether you choose to go via Deloraine or Bracknell). Good parking & toilets available at start of 45 minute 1 km walk. Slightly undulating in parts, but not overly steep at any stage. Well formed earthen path throughout (no chance of getting lost). Several good viewing platforms en route to the main falls. Particularly beautiful at present as falls are running well following recent rains.

A cool and somewhat cloudy day, we found the 800 metre track relatively easy to navigate both ways. The rain forest fauna was spectacular as random sunshine made photographs just wonderful. The falls themselves are in three sections, each of them with a designated photograph area off the tract/boardwalk. It had recently rained, so the fall flow was great and the fresh smell was fantastic. Well worth the drive in and make sure to take time both ways - signs says 45 - 50 minutes return. We took over an hour and made sure to stop and appreciate the views. Don't miss the "Big Tree" just past the public amenities - it certainly is! Thoroughly enjoyed the visit.

A really rewarding, well maintained bushwalk - offering good, easy access to giant ferns, majestic Tasmanian bush, and a couple of smaller waterfalls prior to the main drop. Popular, and steep in parts - but most people in reasonable shape can manage it at their own pace. Toilets at the carparks.

Not a difficult walk really and you have options depending on what you want to do. We visited following a heavy downpour and it was amazing. It is not an easy drive to get to but once you are there it is great. Take lunch and have it when you arrive, Great drip, stunning falls!

A decent 45 minute descent down to the falls with regular lookout spots along the way. Easy with children. Interesting fungi to look at on way down. Be prepared for the hike back up again- hard work carrying a 2 year old! Had a great bbq at the top in the car park and there is a 1 minute walk to a huge gym tree which is pretty good to see.

Bit of a drive off the beaten track, rough tracks to get in which are not great with a small rental car. If u make the drive there are a few walks to talk and the waterfalls are amazing. You can see most of it in an hr from upper car cark
