Travelled here for a week with three children aged 8,6 and 4 and stayed at blue lagoon. Weather was perfect. Location is beautiful. Very quiet little place without retail shops which we liked (although looks like some are going in). Few cafes/restaurants scattered about -...More

Great little beach community, tranquil and beautiful. Stayed here instead of Cairns and loved it. Most everything is walking distance from the beach. Good restaurants, plenty of parking, peaceful walks and friendly people. Come and relax!

Very relaxing and quiet town with lovely restaurants and a handy grocery store and specialty shops. No hoards of tourists here but handy to bus stop to get to any tourist spots. A flop and drop holiday.

The esplanade is a great place to stroll. There are numerous restaurants catering to ask tastes. And it is a lot warmer than IoW!

There are stinger nets and patrols for crocs. So as long as you stay in the nets you'll be fine.

No we didn't notice any along the beach for rent
We would like to visit in mid Feb., but I'm very concerned about the jelly fish. Are there beaches near by that have the nets that protect swimmers? We want to take a boat out to Great Barrier Reef, is this a good location for that too.
