There should have been a closed sign on the sign post on the main highway directing you to the walk.
The drive up is on a one way road, some of it is on gravel but the worst thing is that if you have a big car and another car is coming from the opposite direction there would be an issue as the road is very narrow. Lucky we didn't have a car coming in the opposite direction. On arrival to the tracks the main one is currently closed so we opted for the other short walk, but 300m in we came across a big black snake (possibly a taipan) that was across the whole of the path.
Let just say that it was not worth the drive...

Nice morning in the rainforest- did from Brandy Creek to Impost Creek via Conway Circuit on Segway’s. Humid but fun.
The tracks are well maintained and well marked. Definitely recommend you take water, sunscreen & bug spray.

We walked in 5km from the Brandy Creek car park to Wompoo Way and return. The grade is reasonable given it is also a [closed] road in this section. Plenty of wildlife to be observed if you take your time. Care and an awareness of down hill mountain bikers is an advantage as they approach very quickly. We only saw 3 or 4.

Its a very steep climb up which took us 80mins with 3 children (11, 8 & 6). 60mins down. Parking is difficult as there isn't a carpark and to park on the road you need to park further down the street and walk up.
Once we got to the top the view was lovely, however, it's not even a 180° view.
Pack water and do early in the morning before the heat sets in.

Did the full 27km walk with the help of family, doing drop off and pick up. Thoroughly enjoyed it, the first 3/4 better than the last 1/4. Need to be fairly fit, particularly for the last stretch. Some gorgeous rain forest along the way. Took us about 7 hours, including 1 hour of rest and replenish time along the way. Definitely worth doing. Watch out for the snakes and the pigs, neither of which came at us but we came across them.

Spectacular walk with views, creek crossings and snakes. Lots of snakes
This review is more of a guide if you want to tackle the walk in a day. Another name for this walk is the Conway circuit but it does not start and finish at the same point. It is a 27km walk with one end at Airlie Beach and the other at Brandy creek rd. The information says that it is best to do over 3 days but that is if you want to do it at that pace (8-9kms a day)
If you are in the area and don't have a lot of camping gear do not be put off. It is very achievable to do it in a day but pay attention to the followingv details.
1. Most important. If staying at airlie beach. Get a ride/taxi out to the Brandy creek end. If you start from Airlie you will arrive here with no transport or mobile reception. Let someone know where you are headed and when you'll be back roughly. Your hotel or accommodations reception.
2. There are no shops but some occasional water taps. Recommend to bring your own water and food
3. Beware of snakes on the track in warmer months. They are not aggressive, but steer clear anyway
4. Wear shoes and comfortable hiking clothes. I'd recommend a hat too

It's 430 metres straght up to the top of Whitsunday Peak but do not let that deter the reasonably fit. The 2.5 km trail is well marked with rocks used to form steps in the steeper parts of the track. About 400 m short of the summit is an open area with some views but the last slog to the top makes all the effort worthwhile.
Stunning! North towards Hayman, west to the mainland, south to Hamilton and beyond, the views are breathtaking. Take care if the rocks are wet because it could lead to a very fast and damaging trip straight down. On the inland side of the viewing rock there is a small path through the bush for some 70 m that gives views of the east coast and glimpses of Whitehaven Beach.
Access to the track is from the southern beach at Cid Harbour near the toilets and shelter shed. Allow 2 hours for the return trip although one amazon who shot past our group did it in 40 minutes. Why?
This is a must for those cruising the Whitsundays.

Beautiful lookout, worth the 1.5hr uphill battle. Coming back down should average under an hour. Parked close to kara crescent (street itself is local access only).

We recently walked this 28km trail with two teens (13 and 15). We are a relatively fit and active family and tackled the walk in a single day. It took 7.5 hours including half hour breaks at each of the two designated overnight stops (so 6.5 hrs walking). The route is clearly marked with markers at each km. Tank water is available at various locations but we carried our own without problems. It is strenuous in parts, particularly the stretch from 10-16km and then another very steep 1km climb at about the 21km mark. The distance makes the last 5km decent equally tough. In dry weather as we had, this was all walking with no scrambling and only one minor creek crossing where we removed shoes but probably didn't have to. If you need to get to the start of the walk, a taxi can be arranged for approximately $45 (Airlie Beach Tourist Info helped arrange this for us). A regular bus service goes past the turnoff but it is a further 6km trek off the road which may be the last thing you need. Perhaps the only disappointing aspect of the walk is that there are views at only 2 locations which in 28km is perhaps stretching it a bit thin. The rainforest is great but constant. The challenge and quality bonding through tackling such a trek are the greatest attractions and you'll love it if you're up for it!

Whitsunday Great Walk is a great way to experience lush rainforest, dry woodland, winding streams, wompoo calls and great views over the area including picturesque views over Cannonvale, Jubilee Pocket and Shute Harbour.
This walk was one on the bucket list this year and with optimistic outlooks, we attempted to do it all in one day starting out from the North West end at Forestry Road.
This was definitely a tough ask (even though we were moderately fit) and took us around 8 hours with an added 45 minutes to go to the Honeyeater Lookout. We found the quality of the paths and facilities were great and were happy to cross this one off the list!
Having experienced it I wouldn't do it the same again (unless I wanted to feel the burn) and would recommend only doing two small walks at either end (with snacks and plenty of water recommended):
1. Forestry Road to Wompoo Way
2. Kara Crescent Airlie Beach <-> Honeyeater Lookout
This will give you the full experience with only missing out on two short lived glimpses of Shute Harbour and Jubilee Pocket. The leg between Little Impulse Creek and the fork near Honeyeater Lookout is just a continuation of the environments on either end and does not add much to the walk except for that extra challenge.
I hope this account proves useful to the gung-ho bushwalker and the time poor tourist.
