An awesome spot on a nice day, the birds are amazing, beach a great place for a picnic or surfing and fishing. Both old ang young will enjoy it

great surf but be ready and wear a wet suit. Really nice beach though was nice to walk around on. Cant wait to go back to the beach. You can rent a surf board there also

The cliffs, beaches and surf are all worth seeing. The gannet colony was really quite amazing. So many birds all in one location. The area is well laid out for walking and viewing with good trails, steps where necessary and railings.

Easier drive to the gannets from Auckland. A lot of walking trails, we where not able to do all of them. We loved the wonderful view of the birds while they where flying

I love birds, but I believe anyone will love this place. The views are great. You can almost touch the birds. The signs are informative, and the steps are good exercise. The earlier or the later in the day the better. Midday seems to be...More

We've been here at Muriwai beach about 2 years ago and then 1 year ago. All the time we've been on different tracks, paths, and even viewpoints! I like that I can see

Unbelievable that such a huge colony, so close to the walkway and just 45 Km out of Auckland, is not mentioned in most circuits in the North island

The gannet colony is just wonderful although extremely smelly! You can sit and watch them all day. There is easy access to a viewing platform where you are quite close to them. The sun sets right behind the colony so it makes for a stunning...More

HI, is it possible to drive the car and park it near the hill top, because we have a disable.

You have to walk about 150 meters from the car park but you can push a wheel chair there
