Was here with my girlfriend, reasonable hotel but spoilt by having items stolen. Do not leave your belongings unattended

very, very long beach; from end to end, you can probably walk for more than 90 mins.
it's the main beach of Las Terrenas, the city center is on that beach.
depending where you are on the beach, it's at times beautiful and not crowded or beautiful and somewhat crowded or not that beautiful.

as the title, wide, soft sand, shadow of palm tree, calm and not overcrowded. Water is clear and there are many bars, just avoid the one at the end, Belrive, they charge double prices than mentioned.

This was my first visit and am not convinced. The beach is quite nice, if not for the following stuff:

1. Pack of stray dogs roaming around people on the beach and by the restaurants.
2, The potholes on the Boulevard.
3. Trash all over the beach, particularly on Monday morning.

Seems the local authorities do not give a straw about the overall condition of the beach by letting stray dogs populate the beach without considering the health hazard it represents let alone the unbecoming estéthique that people retain from a visit.

The trash. The all eternal headache of any Municipality in the DR and this is no exception. When locals hit the beach on Sundays seems that they must take it as a achievement not to pick up after themselves and leave EVERYTHING possible around. No shame in not picking anything........nyet, nulle, NADA....

Like any 3rd World country, the scenery could be stellar if stuff would be neatly kept to maintain certain esthetics that would make people like it alot. But somehow, EVERYONE thinks that the Sun and weather will overcome any lack of services given to visitors.

Anyways, my 2 cents worth.

This beach has it all: plenty of space, a beautiful beach with trees to keep you from getting too warm/sunburnt, and several fun bar/resaurants.

I loved walking along the beach. Towards the west side of the beach, the sand feels very soft, almost silky. Whether there is sun or clouds, it's always delicious, the views are great.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants facing this beach. I do not recommend Las Terrenas Beach, but this one is beautiful! Make sure to carry your repellent and drinking water because you can find mosquitoes in the whole town 🦟 and the bottled water is very expensive in Las Terrenas (the regular price is RD$15 or RD$20 for 16oz but in Las Terrenas you will find it at RD$50 and RD$60) if you guys get thirsty you will have to buy several bottles cause one wont be enough for more than one person. If coming with children maybe you could bring mosquito nest for the crib, just in case. (I didn’t have to use mine but you never know)

This is our second time at Playa Las Ballenas. The beach is fantastic. If you wish to have a lounge chair with a cushion all you need to do is buy a drink from Sol y mar. The lunches at Sol y mar are great.

This beautiful beach extends 1.8 km west from our Costarena Beach Hotel ending at a long jagged coral wall. While the beaches to our east are hammered with wind and water currents, this beach seems tranquil and pointed away from the wind with little signs of erosion. Its also shaded in many place with the high coconut palms, kept reasonably clean and nearly a perfect place to sun bathe. Being toward the end of the beach road, the traffic is much less than the other beaches and makes a nice walk. Private homes and condo complexes make up the interior.
