If you are looking for tranquil place to enjoy the warm and clear water of Caribbean sea, perfect outside temperature with gentle sea breeze, surrounded by nature and at the same time being at luxury homes this is the place for you. It is truly heaven on earth.
Tulum is a 10 minutes drive and if you really don’t want to drive taxicabs are just outside this gated community.
Ot is a perfect place for getaway of all the commercial touristy hustle and bustle, where you can enjoy and relax the true experience of living on the beach.

We were looking for a beach where we could snorkel from the shore. You can do this but on the day we went it was very windy so it was very rough. There is easy access from Chamicos restaurant but it may pay to check the tide as when we were there it was very low. If it had been less windy it would have been good as there were fish though not much coral. The restaurant serves fantastic cerviche so well worth eating. The beach belongs to the restaurant so It’s free access provided you order something.

We were looking for a beach off the beaten track and we found it in Soliman Bay. Just north of Tulum, the beach is a thin strip of sand that surrounds a beautiful bay. Below I detail all the things I wish I knew in detail before.
To get there: GPS will take you correctly to the destination. Another way is to drive north from Tulum and when you see a sign for Hotel Jashita turn right down that road.
To get inside: It is a gated community so you either need to be a resident or be visiting the restaurant (at Hotel Jashita or Chamicos). When you get to the gate, say you are visiting Chamicos and they will let you in and ask your name.
To get onto a beach: One way is simply to drive to the south end and pay a small fee to enter through Chamicos. Then you are free to walk along their stretch of beach or move towards the villas and find your own strip of land to set up in. We did something a bit more "trespass"-y. We saw a path in between some of the villas and we parked the car and quietly walked through. Once on the beach you can set up towels wherever you like as it is just a beach and no one owns it! It is worth being aware that the beach is more narrow than classic Tulum beaches and the villas all have their own "backyards" with chairs set up on the beach, so it does feel much more private. Therefore, you can find a space between two properties to just set up towels and no one will give you a problem if you respect the space and peaceful environment. We found a house that was pretty abandoned and used a small piece of their backyard beach-land so we didn't have to sit so close to the water. If we hadn't found that, we probably would have gone through Chamicos with no problem!

This is a hidden gem! Awesome Beach that was quiet. Best kept secret! No hustle from the venders you will practically have it to yourself. Snorkeling was amazing. There is a security gate at the entrance of a dirt road and you just tell them you’re visiting the restaurant and I’ll let you pass. In between the houses there’s passage ways to get you on the beach. Since the beach and the water is not private you can walk up and down and find a quiet place for you to rest and relax for the day.

The sea off this beach was wonderful for swimming: shallow enough to get nicely warm, with clean clear water. Lots of kayakers launch from here. The beach in front of each private home was very clean, with all seaweed removed. However, in front of a home under construction there were several piles of dog poo, right there with tracks left by turtles. Later in the day we met the dogs themselves, obviously owned, and quite friendly once you showed no fear at their barking, but tearing around loose and leaving their presents where they pleased. I already love dogs, but if you're on the fence about them, a visit to this beach isn't the best introduction to these wonderful animals. On a happier note, we saw a very healthy small crocodile in the mangroves on the way to the beach (we walked on foot from the highway).

Long coastal area which I suspect is better at other times. This season there were large volumes of seaweed washing in every night. Some of it was being buried by locals. Some of it was breaking down at shoreline causing the water to be very brown. We were fortunate to have access to a pool during our visit. Not much anyone can do about this. Apparently it happens every few years.

We went and it there was so much seaweed we had to leave and not go swimming. I wish I could say better things but it might not be a great time of year.

We went swimming in this bay and had a great time. There is some seaweed at first so we used water shoes but once you get a few meters out there's no seaweed. This is a eco-protected bay so there's no boats/motors allowed. As such, it is extremely clean, quiet and peaceful. Perfect for snorkeling, kayaking, and swimming. There are a lot of fish to be seen near the reefs and we even saw a turtle once. Make sure to bring your underwater camera!

We went to casa cenote and where told there was a restaurant at the end of the road through a gate. We drove and found ourselves at a beautiful beach with a small restaurant, all tables on the beach under the palms kitchen back a bit further, and hammocks strung under the trees. We drank beer, ate shrimp, snorkeled and, this time, decided against a massage although it was tempting. I am not going to tell you anything else because discovery was half the fun. Please go.

Staying on the bay for a month was very relaxing and beautiful experience for us. There was a natural cenote nearby out in the bay you could swim to and snorkle. Very unique.

We are considering staying in Tankah Bay for 8 nights right after Christmas. A number of homes available for rent seem to have dogs. My brother noted that this may be due to security issues in the area. Can anyone comment on safety around the Tankah Bay area, please?
Thanks!

We stayed at Villa and tanker trailers and felt there were no security issues.
We saw a few dogs in the neighborhood but they were clearly house pets, extremely friendly and somewhere on the small side. One little doll came and visited us at our patio every afternoon around cocktail time to look for a snack.
