Great food and very reasonably priced. Owner speaks some English and menus in several languages. Quiet Spanish village. Beautiful views from their terrace.

Lovely family bar with great food. Portions are good. The paella looked lovely. We had Rosada and chicken. Kids enjoyed it. Cheesecake for dessert was yum. Highly recommended

Stayed in iznate for a week with my sister, found this lovely bar. Very Spanish but also has a great network of English people who mix together with the Spanish. The owner made us really welcome, he speaks enough English to have a conversation with. The food is such great value and really nice. Presentation of the same meal differs on different days but quality doesn’t. Don’t be put off by the rubbish on the floor ( napkins etc) the Spanish and English customers both say, the more litter, the better the bar ! 4 of us ate. Drank too (a fair bit) all for about 40€

Iznate is a beautiful little village situated 8 kilometres off the A7 coast road to Almeria. It lies in the Axarquia region of Andalucía and is approached via a winding but very picturesque road. The views from the village itself are outstanding overlooking the fertile valleys of grapes and avocados to the mountain top village of Comares in the distance. The steep, narrow winding streets are best approached on foot but there is a small car park in the square. There is an imposing Town Hall, in front of which there is usually a dedicated team of elderly lively domino players and their equally, enthusiastic onlookers. The Bar Tejada has incredible views and is a very pleasant place to sit and admire the surrounding countryside as well as sampling the local fare. Next to the bar is another very small, unpretentious one and you could easily overlook it as there is no name outside. This may be a very small bar on the corner but it provides a very big welcome. The proprietor Augustina is charming----nothing is too much trouble for her. There are a wide variety of delicious pitufos(sandwiches ) with very tasty fillings, especially the freshly cooked lomo. The prices are very reasonable. If you are looking for the sophisticated décor of the coastal chiringuitos, then this is not for you but if you want to soak up the very Spanish atmosphere then I can highly recommend this delightful village and its bars..

It should be remembered that Bar Tejada is a local village bar that caters for the local clientele as well as visitors and not a full blown restaurant. This makes for a truly Spanish experience. Alfonso is a superb host who provides traditional Spanish fare along with various daily specials. If you like pork you will love his pork hock 'al horno' which is one of my firm favourites. The clientele is a great mixture of friendly local villagers, foreign residents and those who are spending a quiet holiday in Iznate. The portions are more than ample and everything is cooked to perfection by Rosa, Alfonso's wife. Bar Tejada is one of the main focal points of the village and you are assured of a friendly welcome which will make you want to come back again and again.
