This museum of how people lived and worked in Buscemi in the past is not a collection of items displayed in one location. It's much better. You walk through the town with a knowledgeable guide and visit the little buildings where these activities actually took place. Of particular interest to me were the mill where the grapes were pressed, the various workshops and the homes. More than most museums of this type, you get a sense of what life was like.

This place looks like a town that time passed by. It looks like most of the residents left and they haven’t changed things for years. It was interesting for our group to visit some of the homes and get a look at how people lived years ago. It was a good stop.

This is a living history museum of Italy in the past. As economy changed this town was essentially abandoned in the 1960's. It shows a way of European life that comes to life when seen but was difficult to comprehend through reading alone. Not far from Syracuse and worth the visit.

We visited this hill town as part of a tour group. Because many young people have left the town for larger cities, many of the houses were empty. A group there has turned them into a museum representing what life was like in the 19th century. Different houses display different things. We saw two houses where peasants used to live (very small, one room with a loft), a place that demonstrated how wine was made, a house where a wealthier person lived (several rooms), and displays of shoemaking, porcelain repair, and so on. Due to rainy weather we didn't get to spend as much time in the town/museum to see all the houses that were open. If you go, definitely allow yourselves a few hours to see it all.
