Myself and my husband stopped in here at 6pm on a Sunday evening after a great days walking in forests in Belle -isle -en Terre ..we arrived thinking we were too late to see anything but were met by lovely girl in office who told us house was closed but gardens were open until 9 pm !! The chateau itself from outside is beautiful and gardens are charming -so quiet and peaceful you can just imagine the carriages rolling up the avenue !! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and were sorry we didnt make the tour times earlier in the day !

This is a castle dating back to the early 1400's, seeing 3 major additions over the centuries. The castle is beautiful and well maintained. The current owner, 85 years old, can be seen mowing the grass. An association looks after the property, including the tours. You can visit the gardens only, or gardens and castle. Inside, original furniture from he past are used (in fact the owner still lives there, one wing is closed for visits). Some interesting history can be heard in the guided tour and seen. The visit, including gardens will take you about 2 hours. 2 hours well spent!

We visited the Chateau de Kergist without any great expectations. The gardens were nice enough but the tour of the house was the highlight for us not simply because the house was of great interest but especially because our guide was the owner. A charming and entertaining man who knew the house well and told us which French era the various items of furniture were from and which of his ancestors featured in the various paintings. Most interesting and very amusing. Thank you Rugus.

We visited here last week expecting to see a chateau as presented on the publicity. However it would seem that the publicity photos are all touched up (The post cards certainly were). All the gardens are full of weeds, very poorly maintained, and no longer should be called a garden as it is difficult to see the flowers. If not for the roses at this time of year there would be no flowers. The tour of the interior was very restricted, only seeing half a dozen rooms. Very poor value for money and I would not recommend it.
