Battery Hill overlooking the township of Tennant Creek is named after the original ten-head stamp battery. The 1930’s site echoes the soul and spirit of the miners. Underground Gold Mine tours are conducted regularly. Take self guided walks and meander past the historic machinery. Pay a small fee and enjoy Freedom, Fortitude and Flies; the social history museum and Minerals Museum with its superlative McLaughlin Collection. You will be surprised, they are worth every cent.

I have driven through Tennant Creek a lot over the years and never stopped for a look around, it was very informative you do need to plan your visit to be able to go on one of the tours though.

The tour started off well but we had 3 little redheads who were horrors. Spoilt the tour for several people as we discussed it on the way. All that aside I wasn't going to let that wreck my experience. $30.00 gets you into the underground...More

If you want to know the history of Tennant Creek this isn't to be missed. We've been on many tours and been left with the feeling that the guide would rather be somewhere else. Not here, our guide was passionate about his town, it's history...More

Unfortunately this place has continual staff shortage problems to get the underground mine tour sorted. However we did enjoy the social history part.
