From Tylors Pass you can appreciate the size of the Gosse Bluff crater, considering that the pass must be the area where debris from the outside crater was deposit. A short track leaves to the centre. Several information panels give details about the origen of...More

A Interesting little detour to the heart of the crater, if your lucky you'll be there all by yourselves like us, We spent a good half day there walking up the crater sides, and inspecting rocks, bird nests. Very limited in toilets, and water, were...More

Probably the most interesting stop between Glen Helen and Kings Canyon. We were stunned that you could drive right into the centre of the crater and even more astonished by the view from Tyler's Pass further down the road where it becomes very obvious that...More

From Namatjira Drive there is little indication that the jagged peaks that form Gosse Bluff are worthy of inspection. Fortunately we had read up on this feature and made the bumpy drive on the unsealed road into the centre of the "Bluff". We had a...More

A must stop for anyone travelling between Glen Helen and Kings Canyon - it makes an uncomfortable drive along the unsealed section worthwhile. A huge crater formed by a monster meteor is a sight few people have seen

The rim of this 130 m.y.a. comet impact crater [that a comet was the cause now seems settled by the geological investigations of recent years] is a spectacular presence as you travel the Namatjira Way between Glen Helen and the turn-off to Hermannsburg. There is...More

We were on our way to Glen Helen Gorge from Ulhuru when we thought of dropping be at Gosse Bluff. The turn off is from the Namatjira Drive which is classified at a 4WD track. The track is easy and takes you to the centre...More

There seems to be no earthly reason for the existence of Tnorala on the spinifex and mulga-covered-expanse of Missionary Plain, between Macdonnell and Gardiner ranges,160 km west of Alice Springs. Its a geological anomalywhich, over the years, has variously been explained as the result of the...More

Living in Alice Springs, we thought we could provide other traveler's some inside information of Tnorala, one of the many places of great cultural significance to the Western Arrarnta Aboriginal people especially since there is one review of this area. Created by a comet that...More

Tnorala or Gosse Bluff is a vast meteor crater just off the dirt road that joins Namatjira Drive and Larapinta Drive about 200km west of Alice Springs. The short dirt road to the conservation area is marked for 4WD only, but a 2WD could do...More

Along the short walk is a side track that goes up a small hill, it's probably an extra 10 minutes in total and rejoins the main walk. The very best view is from the lookout at Tyler's pass it's breathtaking!
