How Smokey Yunick Gave Top Advice Without Visiting Kakadu

“IF A BIT’S GOOD, A LOT’S BETTER” The above sweet philosophy is not a Blackeldo original – it comes from Smokey Yunick, the 50s/60s/70s stock car builder/driver. He was talking about engine power, but it applies to many other parts of life. Including Kakadu Tours. Here’s the thing – a one day tour is okay, but distance from Darwin plus... More

Hamish Clark of Sugarbag Safaris provided an extraordinary tour of Kakadu Park and Katherine Gorge. We expected a good naturalist but Hamish was superb when it came to identifying and explaining flora, fauna and geography. Most of all, Hamish has a profound connection to Aboriginal life and culture. We immersed in Aboriginal art from 40,000 years ago to contemporary Aboriginal... More

Hamish the brilliant guide that runs Sugarbags is the perfect host. We had a private tour of five days - two adults and an energetic 7-year old girl. We did crocodiles, picnics in the bush, wildlife cruises, aboriginal art, scenic climbs, swam in creeks, nature walks and learnt so much from the 'NOTHING is too much trouble' Hamish. No worries.... We had a great tour group with 9 people from all different areas of Australia. Hamish our tour guide was very well organised and certainly extremely knowledgable about this part of the country. We travelled to Kakadu, Litchfield, Katherine Gorge and Nitmuluk. The scenery, walking, kayaking and camping under the stars was fantastic. We did cover some miles as you... More

After researching different tour companies, Sugarbag Safaris ticked every box for what we were after and it didn’t disappoint. Firstly, the itinerary was perfect – there’s obviously a lot of ground to cover but the driving was split up so that we never seemed to spend too much time in the car. The daily activities were varied and interesting, boat... More

Ubirr is easy to drive to off the Arnhem Highway. We came from Cooinda Camping Resort up the sealed Kakadu Highway. We turned left when we got to the Arnhem Highway then right up to Ubirr. A half an hour drive North is Ubirr. On a July Morning between 10 am and midday was a great time to go. It... More

What a great tour this is! It runs at a good pace concentrating on highlights in Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield. The size group is perfect, and the people who joined were all interesting and fun. Hamish keeps it all together thanks to his impeccable organisation. Everything is well thought through. We found the pace perfect, fast enough to fit in... More

Kakadu and Litchfield are one of the most beautiful places in the world but what really makes a trip special is a brilliant and knowledgable guide. Hamish Clark had this tour organised with such perfection that he had EVERY single little detail worked out to a tee! In a nutshell this is why you want to book with Hamish. 1.... More
