If you like public art galleries, this one in Nelson is a must-see. I hope the current exhibit of an overview of NZ art and the influence of NZ landscape on its art stays permanently. The large selection in the entry lobby of purchasable local art is amazing.

The Suter's art collection is surprisingly high quality for a regional gallery with many nationally significant New Zealand artists on display. The theme of local and regional significance ties the art works together in a well curated series of exhibitions across three galleries. The newly earthquake strengthened building makes the most of its location in the Queens Gardens beside a... More

Then well worth a visit! Not a huge gallery but well set out and interesting art to view. Admission is voluntary donation so you can choose what it is worth. Queens Gardens right next door so spend an hour and do both!

We were taken to this gallery by a local resident. We enjoyed the coffee in the well designed and restful cafe. I am sure that there are many interesting exhibitions held in the gallery. Pleased we were able to see it. Nice and handy to the city centre.

There are several exhibition rooms here - but not large number of exhibits. Local art and New Zealand artists on show. This was our second visit (we went there a couple of years ago) and the building has been extended. Staff very helpful.

A very good space for an art gallery, just next to the Queen's Garden pond. Lighting is good the space comfortable and they have a good coffee shop with nice atmosphere and good food.

Many beautiful paintings here but many interesting ones as well. Lovely setting by the creek and offers a nice cafe to relax in. Worth visiting.

This was our first visit back to the Gallery since its upgrade. We were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff (which I must add were volunteers) we thought that the contrasting areas divided into 4 main spaces worked well. The architect has done extremely well incorporating a mix of the old and the new. The Suter café is now... More

The Gallery in its new premises has a good selection of permanent pieces plus art for sale by regional artists. It is nice to see it all displayed well now , and its location, with cafe, next to the delightful gardens is lovely. There is a good selection of high level pieces for sale in the shop. Well worth a... More

Currently free entrance to the remodelled gallery. It's been extended and renovations have included opening up roof space so that you can view the architectural details and see windows otherwise only seen from outside and at a distance. Exhibition of works from the Suter collection, and also works showing from members of the Suter Art Society. What I really like... More
