Fantastic from the outside, unfortunately closed for inside viewing until October

I loved the outside of this historical house. They are working on it at the moment so I was unable to see the inside. But the Root Cellar is viewable and quite neat. The... read more

Great place to visit to take photos. At the back lies a very nice garden. Entrance to the garden and the surrounding is free. Worth doing when in Nelson

I loved the outside of this historical house. They are working on it at the moment so I was unable to see the inside. But the Root Cellar is viewable and quite neat. The surrounding gardens and story boards are brilliant. This is not that easy to find, there doesnt seem to be much signage from the main road, but... More

My partner and I visited Isel house after touring Broadgreen house, hence our expectations may have been a little higher than otherwise. It was a rainy day so we didn't get to explore the gardens that sound wonderful in previous reviews. The signage is a bit unclear - entry is from the back of the building which we eventually worked... More

The gardens are like a fairy wonderland in a Disney cartoon, but the house is less than exciting. It only consists of a few rooms, which are all plain and no furniture to create an atmosphere of what it would have been like to live there. It wasn't much different than going to a real estate open home. October is... More

Wonderful place to visit, you have to get your timing right though as the opening hours for the house are limited. The house is beautiful, and the garden/park is well maintained with large areas for the children to explore. The people who staff the house are very knowledgable and provide lots of information on the history of the house. worth... More

Beautiful gardens to walk around, and a lot of history. Walk around the whole garden to appreciate the different trees and plants, good place to walk dog.

Lovely garden to walk around with the dog. Beautiful park and a credit to Stoke for keeping it when it was up for sale some years ago and bringing it back to its present loveliness. Quiet amble, gravel paths weaving in and out of the trees and gardens.
