Jægerspris castle is a really cozy castle with a fantastic castle park where Countess Danner is buried in a mound. When you have gone to the park and visited the castle museum, it is time to pass by the small cozy cafe Danner. The single but lovely dishes they serve and fantastic service, definitely worth a visit.

The museum is not big, but the rooms look very much like nothing has changed since the time they were in use - very nice.

One of the smaller castles with ties to the royal family. The audience chamber and state apartments of the king are part of the museum (entrance 65 DKK). The history of the charismatic king and his unofficial spouse, former commoner Countess Danner, is fascinating. The park is interesting and has nice views and walks, admittance free.

Exhibition is very small and access to the castle is unlikely limited. One must be very interested in the Countess Danner, who you do not get much about. Strange to buy access to a castle, where you still may not see it from the inside.

This place is a surprise. It does not look much and is not advertized much. But it is a great museum on an important woman in Danish history. The park is beautiful, the staff is excellent and the cafe is also great.

It was just a brief walk from alighting from the bus to seeing what began as an imposing Manor House. In grand red brick it has a trio of regal towers.
Within is an engaging museum, reflecting its furnishings of the mid 1850s.
This is when King Frederik VII acquired it from the State and retreated there with his third wife, Countess Danner. To avoid controversy pertaining to his latest marriage, which was with a woman of unequal social standing.
In her will the Countess bequeathed part of the complex as an orphanage for girls, a role it continues to fulfil.

This is a nice museum with many historical pieces from King Frederick Vll and Countess Danner. The ground are good for a relaxing walk and an enjoyable time for a history buff. We had some family connections which gave the visit extra meanin.

Everything is very authentic and well kept. It’s a pretty scenery and the forest around is amazing. Worth traveling to see and there’s a small very nice cafe in the courtyard.

Must be visited in the summertime - only open from late March to late October (closed Mondays also in season). But also from the outside the castle is beautiful and worth to see. The park ia open all year. And there is a small Cafe for a bite or a cup of coffee - also in general open.

This castle is mostly exhibiting the activities of king Frederik VII and Countess Danner, how they lived and what they achieved more privately. Not so much about their full stories, which were quite remarkable. But the castle dates far longer back than that, actually back to the early kings of Denmark and king Christian IV has also made his contribution to this castle, particularly the north wing, which is not accessible to the public. You only get to see the inside of some of the south wing, where, in addition to the living quarters of the king and countess, you find examples of how the home for young girls was arranged, the Danner nursery.

Det er ikke let at komme rundt med kørestol. Slottets ældste dele er fra 1700 tallet, og dengang havde man ikke megen planlægning for kørestolsbrugere. Selv slotsgården er med sin brosten vanskelig at forcere i kørestol.
