We spent about an hour looking at the Giant telescopes and in the Information centre. You can see 5 Telescopes and watch them move on their tracks. The information centre is very informative and includes a film about the Telescopes. It is free entry to the centre.

Unfortunately the visitor information centre was unmanned and the video was not operating properly, so it was a bit difficult to understand several things.

We enjoyed our visit, although weren't aware prior to our arrival that it is self guided. The place is unmanned, there is no one there to answer any questions. It's pretty much deserted at the tourist part. Very obviously there are people working in the NO ENTRY or PRIVATE area's. There are a few signs to read and a video... More

I've always been fascinated by space, the sky, telescopes. My Dad was an amateur astronomer, and I shared his love of sky. This was awesome! So very cool to see all these dishes up close, and to see them actually being moved along the rails while we were there. The grounds were full of apostle birds too, which was also... More

The telescopes were right at the observation deck so had a really good look at them. The info centre told us it was not manned which we enjoyed as we could read all the info without interruption. It was very informative and we could play games with the dishes outside. We are not that into science but enjoyed the visit... More

Interesting and informative, CSIRO Australia Telescope is 25 km from Narrabri. The Centre is open to visitors and there are plenty of informative displays around to give a good picture to anyone.

For those interested in the sciences this place is worth the visit. Has a small theater showing the history of the telescopes and what they are doing. Good place to visit if travelling through Narrabri.

Had read that this was a must see if in the Narrabri area so detoured from the highway on our trip north-west. The place was deserted. It was about 1.30pm on a Thursday and nothing was open and absolutely nothing happening. We wandered around reading the information on the boards and took a few photos. The huge dishes were so... CSIRO Australia Telescope is 25 km from Narrabri. 6 dish antennas have dishes 22 m wide with 5 on a 3 km track and one fixed 5 km away. These antennas allow astronomers to observe very fine detail in space. The Centre is open to visitors and there are plenty of informative displays around to give a good picture to... More
