We had lunch with the kangaroos. Walking tracks are well signed. There are three cabins run by National Parks. Camping areas are easily accessed.

Cool while the surroundings boiled. Nice picnic area and toilets. Look outs and boarded walks were well cared for. Saw kangaroos. Pleasant.

I visit the region every few weeks and always make an effort to go to the national park - it is spectacular all year round. Plenty of different walks and drives, plus a heap of things to look at, it is a hidden gem in NSW. Be mindful of extensive dirt roads so choose an appropriate vehicle, I once lost... More

Going up the mountain in quite a storm, rain stopped when we arrived on top. Very nice walks to the lookouts in fresh air. no one around at this day! Do not drive up to the summit, but take the track a little downhil from that intersection which is signposted "Kaputar Summit". Maybe 1 km to walk.

This was an amazing experience!!! Absolutely loved it - we got to the very top! Plenty of places to stop for views and places to have a picnic. Don't be put off by the dirt road for the first part of the journey - it does get sealed after about 10 - 15 klms - just persevere and you will... More

Cold wet and dreary. Yet the next day Sunny warm and fantastic views. This place is worth the worst weather if you can see those views.

Despite the rain and not really being able to walk any further then the paved car park. The drive from Bingara to Narrabri was just so beautiful and scenic, the Glacial Area a little further up was actually enhanced by the flooding rain- absolutely amazing to see so much water rushing over the rocks and the thundering sound of the... Stayed 2 nights at Dawsons Creek campground. Lots of wildlife, you have to watch out for the posse of young kangaroos that will try to steal food, they are quite bold. Lovely circuit walk from the campground takes a couple of leisurely hour with great views, Watching the sunset from West Kaputar rock lookout was also a highlight.

Kaputar NP is simply a stunning and Id say fairly unexpected gem in north-west NSW. Its a mountainous area, remnant of an old shield volcano and includes low alpine and dry rain forest areas in a part of the state more noted for its flat and hot agricultural plains . Until our trip in 2016, I hadn't been up the... More

I only had four hours to drive from Narrabri, walk in the national park and get back. I went to Green Camp and did the Yulludunida track up to the dingo fence. This is a superb, exhilarating walk up many many wooden steps and nicely positioned rocks. It's not that hard. Proper walking boots would have been an advantage but... More
