A fantastic place to see nature at her best. Be considerate and observe New Zealand fur seals in their natural habitats with fantastic background scenery that is worth the 15 minute drive from town.

Visited on Saturday 19th May. As we were driving down from Blenheim to Kaikoura we noticed all the seals on the rocks at Ohau Point. Unfortunately we could not stop because of road works but was still able to see them due to speed restrictions...More

Even though you can’t stop there now due to the roadworks after the earthquake, there are hunfreds of seals are all along the coastline. We didn’t mind the road works, giving us lots of “slow traffic” to look at the seals. Will be great place...More

The coastal road, SH1, is open and you can drive straight through from Christchurch.

Not t sure about best times we went twice when the tide was out and saw lots of seals
