Lovely place to chill out, swim, walk, and picnic with the family. Great parking at the top and plenty of space for activities. Well kept walking tracks provide easy walking through beautiful scenery.

We loved the Whagarei Falls. Luckily they had rain within the last week so there was plenty of water. Nice parking lot. You walk down to see the top of the falls. There is a walkway to go down to the bottom of the falls...More

The carpark for the falls was completely packed when we were there the weekend after New Years, so we drove around the park to the AH Reed Kauri Park and walked the trail a mile or two to get there. Bring your bathing suit! The...More

Only about ten minutes drive from the motel. Well worth a visit. Very impressive. Kids swimming in river though, inspite of the warning notices advising of pollution.

We parked at the top of the falls and followed the path which leads to the bottom of the falls. There are then steps leading back to the top where the car park is. It’s not a huge area but easily accessible by anyone of...More

Close to city these lovely waterfalls are well worth a visit. Easy walk (2 mins) from car park to the top of the falls. You can cross the river to see the falls from the side. A bit more of a demanding walk to the...More

Worth a detour off Highway 1, nice falls with toilets and picnic places. Short walk 20 - 30 min. around the immediate area of the falls or a longer up to 90 min walk.

If you have a car this place is not far out of town and definately worth a look. Being end of summer I assumed water not at peak level but still a great waterfall, easy walking access and plenty of parking.

Doesn't look that great from the top, but when you get down, it looks like you're standing right in a rainforest. I really enjoyed this one. With the litte river in front it's really photogenic, if you're into photography...

I suppose you can but the falls are not "lit-up".....would be a great initiative by the local council if they were. I would not visit here at night alone and no after dark security here.
