If you're in Northland, definitely spend at least a day out in Poor Knights. Even if you don't scuba or snorkel, the scenery and caves are amazing. If you do dive, I think this is probably the best place in NZ to do so. The water is full of fish, nudibranchs, eels, and stingrays with better visibility and overall dive... More

A wonderful protected marine area in NZ, no fishing allowed so the sea life is rich and abundant. Amazing rock formations, tunnels and caves to travel through by boat. Stunning diving location.

Its about 12 miles of the East coast, departure from Tutukaka where there are a number of good operators, including Perfect Day and Yukon. New Zealand typically has about a 15 know wind blowing but these boats will usually travel quick enough that if you get seasick it is only a 30 minute trip before you are in a sheltered... More

A great days outing to experience the wonderful islands, the famous Riko Riko cave and to enjoy the wonderful undersea life that the islands have.

floating around with fish surrounding you, (sometimes it's hard to see the surface because of the number of them), hanging on to a rock and making your fist into a ball shape so a moray eel can't bite you, or just viewing from the surface at the variety of species - if it isn't heaven, it has to be very... Travelled with husband and son on the Perfect Day boat cruise which was great. Crew were friendly and helpful. Lunch was sandwiches and fruit. Snorkelling was interesting although freezing water. We also kayaked a little so were well occupied. Would recommend and there is something for everyone provided you like the sea! Boat facilities were good.

We travel to Poor Knights for diving at least once a year and it's always amazing. It's a pleasant drive for us from north Auckland to Tutukaka where activities are based for the trip to the Islands. They are basically rugged, beautiful and uninhabited. We are not permitted to land on them but you don't need too because it's what's... More

Took wife and daughter for boating trip on boxing day. Wife and daughter loved every second. They swam and snorkeled for hours. Well worth the money, unfortunately I spent most of the time at the back of the boat chucking up. Turns out im not good on boats. But saying that, the crew were great and highly recommend this trip.

I have been out to the Poor Knights with Dive Tutukaka's Perfect Day for the past 4 years. Each time I am so impressed with this company and their slick operation. Today Darren and his crew did not disappoint. We had a great day at this unique place and today was a highlight for our international students stay while they... More

Quite simply this is the best dive spot I have ever dived on world wide. It's a bit of a shame that the last 5 dives I have done there have essentially been in the same spot around the Rico Rico cave area when there are dozens of different spots. Depends on the weather though.
