The museum is currently in much smaller premises than normal in Ridway St while its usual home undergoes earthquake strengthening. But don't let that put you off a visit. The artefacts on display are better than any other museum I've been to in recent years,...More

Popped in for the first since this has opened in town. The Museum looks fantastic. Small but perfectly formed and well worth a visit.

Compared to other regional museums, this is a good one. It's small and focused on the region, including settlement of the area. There's a great collection of Gottfried Landauer portraits of Maori leaders. There's also a touching exhibit on WWI that follows the path of...More

We spent more time than we had intended here, as the Museum has a fascinating collection of artefacts and historical information. The building itself is beautifully maintained and a delight to visit.

A good place to learn a bit of history of Wanganui - European settlement. It was interesting. The museum has a good gift shop. Entry is free. An enjoyable interlude !

This is a great place to take the kids for a couple hours during the school holidays. There are activities and a scavenger hunt the kids can do.

Came for a day trip to Wanganui. Decided to see the sights. The museum was pretty fun. Gave an insight into the history of the area and had lots to do. Would be cool for kids too. The ladies on reception were cool too.
