Mammoth is an impressive, gothic-like cave that could easily be described as the perfect home for a caveman. Tours are self-guided with an audio headset and begin via an elevated boardwalk through towering Karri forest. As you journey through the spectacular formations lookout for the carefully lit animal bones and fossils and listen to the stories about extinct animals. Wildflowers are abundant around the precinct from September to November. Located 22km south of Margaret River.

Interesting. Gives you a good idea of the terrain. Beware the steps are steep and there are about 500 of them. Took the earphone tour. Worth a visit.

Fantastic cave deep underground. Very safe and well lit up for viewing. Be aware of the 170 step climb out of the cave at the conclusion

This is one of many caves that can be visited in the area. It is a self guided tour and is about $20 per person. The cave and surrounds are beautifully maintained. The walking track and paths were very safe and easy to negotiate. The lighting effects were spectacular and showed off some intricate formations. We did the full tour... More

We have been to quite a few caves across the world and this compares very well. Good access and very well orated through the self guided headsets. There are some great formations and the wild bee hives well above the exit are a nice addition. The rest of the cave beyond the exit collapse attracts my curiosity and I would... More

We visited Lake Cave and Mammoth Cave on the same day. It was hot so the caves were a welcome relief! Both caves were different and worth seeing for their own special attributes. The first level was wheelchair friendly so my husband could access that part. The rest has many steps and you see all through the cave which is... More

Bought a combined ticket to see both Lake Cave and Mammoth Cave and was pleased they had very different features. It is a self guided tour with headphones provided. The views in the cave are wonderful and you walk around on boardwalks and up stairs. Leaving the caves was quite tiring ,involving climbing up the stairs to the top of... More

Dear mrsannnaylor, Thanks for taking the time to post your feedback here. It's true that there is quite a good number of steps at Mammoth Cave, but visitors here do a self-guided tour with audio player - so its possible to set your own pace. Although we try not judge a person's ability ourselves, if a visitor expresses concern about... More

Im not a great fan of such tours. But Im glad that my husband convinced me to go. It is worth the $$ and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The long climb up is not as tiring as I expected and I will say it is definitely a must visit for families , children or adults alike.

Mammoth Cave is easily reached by car or, as I did, via a tour company organized trip. The cave is enormous and simply magnificent, with walkways to assist your journey through the cave and avoid damage to the stalagmites and stalactites. It's a beautiful place and has a spiritual aura. At the same time, headsets are provided for those who... More
