The Port of Echuca is a living monument to the 1870's when it was Australia's largest inland port and indeed the third largest port in Australia outside Sydney and Melbourne. Authentic steam driven paddlesteamers depart daily from the Echuca Wharf which originally extended 333 metres in length in the 1880's and has been recently been reconstructed.Home of the TV series "All the Rivers Run", the Port of Echuca will provide you with a glimpse of what live was really like in the late 1800's. With the new Discovery Centre now open, it is indeed an attraction not to be missed.

Great displays and videos of River and steamers of years gone by. Interesting steam engine display and to top it of a river captain from Murray, Jenny, takes you on an informative walk of the precinct.

The night tour is fantastic, i've been on a few night tours around Australia and the UK and this is as good as it gets. The tour guide makes it so great, he is informative, a great story teller and funny WITHOUT BEING corny (trust me, guides like this are hard to come by) Only a short 1 hour tour... More

Booked an after dark lantern tour which also gave us entry as many times as we wanted to the discovery centre. Joel our tour guide entertained us with his stories and information about Echuca in the 1800, I loved that we were given lanterns which really made us feel like we were in the 1800. We were able to go... More

We visited the Discovery Centre over the long weekend and found the experience to be quite enjoyable. The new parts of the centre are well displayed and laid out. Unfortunately, as you progress through the tour the displays get older and the information is a lot harder to access. We spent a lot of time speaking with the volunteer who... More

We were only in Echuca for one night and explored the port area and the main shopping street the following morning. The port are area was fascinating and a real insight into how life was lived all those years ago. There were interesting plaques to read on the oldest of the buildings, too many to quote here. We saw an... More

Great place to stop by for a few hours. We were lucky enough to arrive just before the 1:30 tour started and it was deifnitely worthwhile. Thanks to the guide Joel for making the tour enthusiastic and interesting. It was great to hear how influential Echuca was in the development of the colony.
