More than I expected - more than hoped!
This is one bvery s[ecial place to go vosot.
So informative and respectful.
Interactive screens gave so much to our visit.
To see and read the story of the flag was very special.
The grounds are so lovely with a lake and memorial avenue of trees - so tranquil. The copper memorial depicting the events was also incredible art work.

A memorial to a piece of Australian history. Built on the site of the original Eureka Stockade, this memorial tells the story of the battle against the colonial authorities and the fight against the gold tax. A visit to here and the Eureka Centre provides a full history of the battle and it is great to take kids along to learn about what happened all those years ago.

Fascinating to learn about the history of the Eureka Stockard Rebellion. A lovely monument to The Pikemans Dog who wouldn't leave his master's side after he was killed at the stockade in 1854, and was awarded RSPCA purple cross in 1997.

Ballarat is full of impressive historic monuments including this one to the Eureka revolt which is seen by many as Australia's 1st move to independence.

When a band of miners, of several nationalities, revolted against official oppression in 1854, it gave birth to radical, democratic tradition in Australian politics. The Eureka Stockade rebellion was led by Peter Lalor, an Irishman who later became a prominent politician. The Governor, Sir Charles Hotham, was criticized for the official response. The Stockade is a significant site in Australian history.

Check out the Eureka Centre before coming here to the site of the Eureka Stockade. When you hear the story you'll be deeply moved.

Spent a couple of hours at the Eureka Stockade Memorial Park as was a beautiful day, to sit and reflect on what happened at that spot all those years ago.
The park is well maintained and the pond clean, fantastic.
Also loved the Memorial to “The Pikemans Dog” a Scottish Terrier (Wee Jock) for his loyalty to his mater on 3rd December 1854.

whilst in Ballarat why not include in your itinerary everything Eureka, it's educational and any eye opener about the events that took place and kick-started democracy in the new colony

A sunny spot with a interesting story of the rebellion / protest of the miners all those years ago. In a nice corner of this hallowed ground, that every Aussie should go at least once in their life to know our history. There are a few other points of interest in this park. The pond was empty when we were there, would be nice when full.
