Experience the excitement and history of Launceston's spectacular Tamar River from the comfort of our unique vessels. An informative commentary from our skippers will take you on a historical journey where you will discover the stories and tales that shaped Launceston and the Tamar Valley. Travel in to the heart of the Tamar and view the navigable section of the spectacular Cataract Gorge. Sample the delights of our local wines and cheeses as you view breathtaking scenery, world class vineyards, historical buildings, rural settings and frequent encounters of fascinating wild life including sea eagles, wild duck, black swans, pelicans, plus many other varieties of water-fowl and occasionally playful seals. One of our passenger recently commented it is like a moving postcard. It is certainly a 'must do' when visiting Launceston!

Lovely 50 minute cruise around the area with informative guide. Great to sit back and see some sites whilst relaxing. Also received some discounts for other tours and restaurants by producing our ticket stubs. Highly recommend.

Some of the cruise was really interesting, especially hearing about the history of the area but it was probably a little too long. We were also unlucky to have some annoying passengers on board with us which detracted from the experience. Going into the gorge...More

We were staying within walking distance to the jetty which was really convenient. A short 10 minute walk and we were there. The cruise down the Tamar River was really relaxing with all the scenic and historic things pointed out to us as we cruised...More

The best way to see the famous Cataract Gorge is from the water and our morning cruise took us there and also downstream, passing numerous historic sites. Our skipper was a most informative guide and his colleague kept us happily supplied with morning tea and...More

The cruise was pleasant enough but the ‘captain’ Jeff, really detracted from the experience. We can all see that Launceston is a lovely town and we certainly don’t need to be lectured about how much older, better, blah blah blah it is than other Australian...More

Well run with friendly and attentive staff. The river cruise was a tad boring; perhaps better suited for bird lovers. Highlight was entry to Cataract Gorge but was not worth 2.5 hours to get there (the gorge is wonderful to walk around and explore on...More

We went on the Lady Launceston for an hour cruise on the Tamar river. The captain was very nice, and his commentary was clear and very informative. Well worth it.

Cataract George Cruise was an interesting and informative cruise with Graham at the helm. Extremely knowledgeable gentleman and we certainly appreciated his local history of the area. Lovely way to spend an hour with a brisk walk up the gorge following. Instead of booking through...More

We took the 50 minute tour, which covered some of the Tamar River and went into Cataract Gorge. Our guide gave us lots of interesting information about Launceston's history, the development of the city and river, recent floods and the gorge. The silent engine used...More
