We traveled up one side and back down the other. I wish we had more time to explore as there were so many lovely spots and wineries etc. One of the most beautiful parts of the country.

there are some great cellar doors in the area but we were underwhelmed by the lack of food experiences. once more tourists come I am sure the restaurants and cafes will step it up a notch

If you have some time take the drive up the Tamar valley and head along the old road to roservers visit the winery's and stop at the supply river historic flour mill site for a easy walk to the ruins, then continue up the valley or head over the iconic batman bridge and down the other side back to Launceston... A lovely trip for a half day or a day. Great wines with cellar door sales; superb cheeses; beautiful views; good roads; lovely seaside towns and beaches. Fun to visit.

A boat trip could be the best way to enjoy this interesting area but if driving north it was better on the western side.

the tamar valley has stunning views, its either green or brown depending where you are. Wineries are great but a tad expensive we thought.
