All about the making of sugar in the Real, Hands-on, day-to-day world group guided by the lovely Kelly & Robyn, the tour was a wonderful, clamber in & amongst the ups & downs of all the equipment that turns the tall, lush cane we drive through along the coast of Queensland, into the essential sugar that we so use. Thoroughly recommended... More

Was pleasantly surprised with this tour as I only chose it to see the platypus. On the way out of Mackay we heard a commentary on the sugar cane growing and processing industry which I found very interesting. Then after a bbq lunch, our stop at the rainforest and short walk down to the waterfall. Along the walk, our guide... More

It's not hard to guess what one of the biggest things in the Mackay, Far North Queensland area is - the town is surrounded by acres and acres of sugar cane. So seeing as you only get two opportunities in Australia to go through a working sugar mill - Mackay & Tully - and seeing as the crushing season -... More

The tour was not what I expected. But still interesting to see given its importance in QLD history. I would only recommend for this fact

Going through our trip photo's & realised one of the highlights in retrospect was the Farleigh Sugar Mill Tour. We should write about it. 2 hours of absolute surprise about this industry presented in fantstic fashion by husband & wife team, Rhonda & Glen, from NSW would you believe. (we didn't at first) During the introduction with some serious explanation,... More

What a wonderful experience. We really enjoyed our tour of this working mill. It was fascinating walking through the mill with our friendly and knowledgable guide, Glenn. We felt very proud that this Australian mill, run by farmers for farmers uses innovative procedures and has no waste products- truly a green industry. It's a shame politics prevents the mill and... Fabulous insight into the sugar cane industry from on farm view of harvesting, through arrival at sugar mill and processing to store facility at port. Glen our guide was very knowledgeable and made the industry come to life for us. I would highly recommend this tour.

I took two tours with Reeforest, one Paddock to Port, where we saw sugar cane being harvested, then went to the Farleigh Mill and saw the whole process of milling and refining sugar, and later to the port area where the sugar is put onto ships where it is packaged ready for the supermarket shelves. The other tour was to... More

Very annoying as website promises every Wednesday and Saturday trips to Eungella NP. I contacted them earlier in year and was promised that they would put my request in the book, as well as contacting me nearer time. Last I heard from them despite a follow up email to find out if trip was going ahead. Took a phone call... More

I booked a Farleigh Mill Tour for when my parents were visiting. During the booking process they asked for my phone number, which was fine. When we got to the hall, we found that the tour was not running because of recent rain and thus, there was no cane in the yard. I was a bit annoyed, given that the... More

Thank you. Unfortunately On this day there was a lot going on and Kellie was trying to do too many things at once and was not near the office to contact anyone for the 10.30 tour. We have now got a system in place to contact people if the mill breaks down and we are not in the office. More
