Thanks to our wine tasting host - Richard for a memorable wine tasting experience, show casing some of the array of white and red wines from this stable. Not a puff and fluff type of tasting experience but an earthy grounded exceptionally well delivered overview of the varietals on offer from a truly experienced and knowledgeable host. The wine impressed us all enough to pencil in a visit to the Mudgee wine region were some of these fine offerings originate.
Recommended if visiting the Hunter.
Thank you Richard.

Tyrrell's is one of the older wineries in the region and the decor definitely shows that. My group were taken into a room that had old portraits hanging on the walls and it very much showed the age of the building but in a good way!
The staff member running our tasting was very knowledgeable about the wines and she took interruptions in stride. She also engaged politely in conversation regarding topics other than wine which was nice. The wine was also quite good, as one would expect in the Hunter.
I would visit Tyrrell's again.

We were in the Hunter Valley for one night only and as my maiden name is Tyrrell this was the obvious choice. As it is a well known, fairly big brand I was worried it’d be very corporate and commercialised (like Tattinger etc in the Champagne region). Instead we were given a really friendly welcome, a great range of wines to taste and fantastic wine recommendations. The staff were friendly, funny and made us feel really welcome. We came away with some great wine to drink and one to lay down until our little boy turns 21!! Highly recommended

Managed to get a tasting without a booking, I think only because it was a slow Sunday, but shows it's worth a try. We'd been here a couple of years back & bought a few bots, tried a few tastings of the new vintages, the cost being offset against purchases, so well worth trying. Love their wines, love the lack of pretention.

Excellent wine tasting. Our hosts were very relaxed and informative; happy to have a chat and talk about the wine but also happy to leave us alone. There was no hurry and for $10 each it was great value. We bought some wine to take home of course. Recommended.

Beautiful vineyard, views of the valley and mountains. A sign on the door had awarded this Tasting Room the Best among larger vineyards. The Sparkling wine was excellent as had excellent flavor (fruity and light Chardonnay taste). After tasting we bought two bottles. Scot, our wine staff member taking care of us, remembered us from about four years ago with another couple, that traveled with us and was their first trip to Australia. He was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable and a nice sense of humor. While there, we met the owner, Bruce, who had stopped by to see how all was going. Very nice man as friendly and we chatted a bit.

Our favourite cellar door in the Hunter Valley region.
This is always our first destination when we enter the valley. The quality of wines is exceptional and never fail to disappoint.
Richard is always great to talk to and thoroughly enjoy his conversation and honesty. A great Hunter experience.

Although it is a bit inconvenient having to book wine tastings now (and this happens with many of the Hunter wineries), it does mean that you get a much more personal experience. Andrew was extremely knowledgeable about wines and the wine making process, as well as the history of the vineyard. I was a non-taster as I was driving, but my husband had an absolute ball tasting the various 'extras' that Andrew brought out. By the end of our visit the tasting area was much busier, but we were very impressed with the way the staff manage to speak to everyone equally and listen to their requests with a lot of patience. A really great experience and thanks Andrew!

We booked a VIP Wine Tasting for the 3 of us. We were met on arrival by Scott and shown around the winery and learnt the family stories about how the winery started and has become the amazing place it is today. Scott was a fantastic host and the wines are so good. I never thought I would ever drink Semillon White Wine but the ones that Tyrrells make are very good and I loved them. So thank you Scott for encouraging me to try them. This winery was the 1st of 3 wineries we visited today and by far the best. It seemed less commercial and our tour and tasting was more about the background story and wine than about the commercial side of it and we loved it. We could not have had a better host than Scott.

A good cellar door experience. The grounds are beautiful, and include picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy the spectacular views. You can bring your four-legged friends - they can't go into the cellar door room but ours was more than happy to sit outside while we had our tasting. Easy off road parking, and some great family history on site.
